The Peshawar High Court heard the appeal filed against the sentence of the five accused who were sentenced to death by the military court on charges of terrorism.
On this occasion advocate Shabir Hussain Gigiani appeared in court on behalf of the accused.
According to the prosecutor, the accused Muhammad Munir, Sharafat Ali, Anwar Ali, Rehmat Ali and Muhammad Ali, residents of Swat, are accused of being detained on charges of terrorism since 2010. They were kept in different detention centres.
The accused were transferred to Central Jail Peshawar after the military court had sentenced them to death under the addendum of Civil Powers Regulation.
The accused approached the Peshawar High Court against the capital punishment. The court suspended the sentences and ordered the case to be placed before a two-member bench.
It should be noted that many applications of this nature are under hearing.
