Petrol/Gas prices around the world

Hi All,
I recently saw SMS being forwarded in India comparing Petrol/Gas prices around the world. The comparison was indicating that Petrol in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was sold very cheap but is costly in India. I did little bit google search and found figures were questionable. However like to hear your opinion. Could you please confirm the price is correct in INR if so why do you think it is cheaper.

I don't know about Pakistan but In India the Central and state government's taxes make up nearly half of petrol's pump price. The Central govt has different taxes, which amount to about 24–26% of the final cost. The states taxes vary, but on average end up making about 20–25% of the final cost. As a result, approximately 50% of the pump cost goes to the government in the form of different taxes. Hence, the Prices of Petrol is High....

Actually I just rechecked farhan's post those were numbers of Pakistani petrol if converted to INR so yeah it is more expensive.

from a simple google search:
Petrol price reaches Rs113.25 per litre - Business - DAWN.COM
1 Pak Rupee = 0.61 INR, hence we get the price to be 70 rupees.

Cost is 1.12 dollars, hence around 66 INR.

You can do the same for SL and the others..feeling lazy.

Is that the price for Premium/ high octane? Which city/town in Pakistan are you talking about? How much is regular unleaded petrol (which I presume, is what the majority of motorists use)?

depends on which day. Cheapest on Saturday and Monday. 80+ % are taxes. Most expensive petrol in world ?
