Mr. Jeff Head is asking for your support:
"For all US citizens, US veterans, US Military personnel, and particularly US Navy personnel and veterans and their families...and for anyone well disposed towards the US and its Navy...we just started today (Feb 1, 2011) petitioning the US Secretary of the Navy and the US Congress to name the 2nd Ford Class super carrier, CVN-79, as the USS Enterprise.
With the commissioning of CVN-78, the USS Gerald R. Ford, which is currently building, in the 2013-2014 time frame, the USS Enterprise, CVN-65, will be retired and decommissioned.

Designate the next US Navy nuclear powered Aircraft Carrier, CVN-79 as the USS Enterprise Petition
The name USS Enterprise has a long, proud, distinguished tradition in the US Navy dating back to 1775. There have been eight different vessels named USS Enterprise in the US Navy, two in the Continental Navy.
The last two have been large deck carriers, CV-6, USS Enterprise, from 1934-1947 which was the most highly decorated combat vessel in US military history for its many actions in World War II, and CVN-65, USS Enterprise, from 1961 through to 2013 (est), the world's first nuclear aircraft carrier, and the longest continuous serving US aircraft carrier in our history, now over 50 years.
CVN-79 has not been named yet, and the US Secretary of the Navy is tasked with the job, who is consulted by the US Congress.
Please help us petition these individuals to continue the rich and distinguished tradition of the USS Enterprise, America's BIG-E aircraft carrier with CVN-79
PLEASE, PLEASE spread this around to other navy forums and groups on the net. Use your email lists, blogs, email chains, etc. We will need over 100,000 signatures to make this count and have these officials take notice."
