Pervez Musharraf pays bond, release papers issued
ISLAMABAD, Nov. 6 (UPI) --Former Pakistani PresidentPervez Musharrafsubmitted $2,000 in surety bonds Wednesday, and jail officials received orders to release him, Geo News reported.
A judge granted bail to Musharraf Monday and he was expected to be released late Wednesday, Geo News said.
As part of his release, Musharraf will be on the interior ministry's exit control list meaning he's not allowed to leave the country before his trial.
Musharraf is accused of ordering a crackdown on the pro-Taliban Red Mosque in Islamabad, in which imamAbdul Rashid Ghaziand his mother, Sahib Khatoon, were among the victims.
Musharraf was on self-imposed exile but returned earlier this year. He was banned from running in the general election and put under house arrest in April for a series of charges stemming from his time in power between 1999 and 2008, the BBC said.
He is accused of ordering the assassination of former Prime MinisterBenazir Bhuttoand Baloch tribal leader Nawab Akbar Bugti and is also charged with attempting to fire the higher judiciary in 2007, the BBC said.
