Pentagon for closer military ties with India


Washington, Sept 14:

The Pentagon has said it wants to develop closer military ties with India including sales of arms.

“We hope to strengthen our relationship on the military front with the Indians, to include arms sales. We’ve been very clear about that.

“On the issue of export technology transfers is one that we are working through in particular,” Pentagon Press Secretary George Little told reporters at a news conference yesterday.

Responding to a question on arms sales to India, Little said the US is looking to develop closer ties in this field.

I'm all for increasing cooperation with US and moving the eff away from Russia. For some reason the Russian armed forces don't want to train all that much with the Indian military but the US military just can't get enough of these joint exercises!!

Dude somebody tell Pentagon that Indians are not Arabs were you judge military relation by selling weapons and minting Dollars for urself......We Indians are Baniya's If you realy want closer ties with India then you have to start joint ventures and ToT on Mutual Terms.....and ya even then you can't dictate us on our foreign policies.....

We have to take full advantage of this before they change their mind and start manufacturing weapon system locally from transfering TOT and private company should start joint ventures because friends and enemy are not permanent in this world

Mate you're right but I think the US is already fully aware of this. That is why it is looking to forge greater ties through exercises and not just sales. It is already well known amongst the international community that India has its own indpendant foreign policy and these sort of deals only play into this policy- the US isn't going to be able to buy India's love quite like the Arabs!
