ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronics Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has warned TV channels against airing live speeches, press conferences and media talks of different politicians wherein hate speech and criticism on the judiciary and armed forces of Pakistan is being aired without any editorial over-sighting.

According to Pemra statement: “it has also been noticed that news channels in their news bulletins, current affairs programmes/talk shows, are repeatedly broadcasting these derogatory speeches, media conferences and media talks of politicians as a reference and comments of the panelists are invited which tantamount to casting aspersions against superior judiciary and Armed Forces.

The statement warned that violation in the matter is liable to strict action under Section 27, 29 and 30 of Pemra Ordinance 2002 as amended by Pemra (Amendment) ACT 2007.

All sort of Laws are there but implementation is the issues.

Pakistan media need some leash...especially anchors like Shahid Masood and Ziad Hamid.
No,Shahid Massod is not bad
he brought to light many wrongdoings of the gvernment
maybe you should name Mir Shakeel's goons instead as they harm the country

Media is a genie out of its bottle, good luck to all those asking it to get back to any confines for now...changes for the better can only come from within and with time...Dr.Shahid is a learning curve but who wants to learn when the ratings are doing great.
