In recent days, two ex heads of PCB have levelled allegations, or rather repeated the allegations of Match Fixing, betting (Satta), on ex cricketers of Pakistan.
In the Video below Arif Ali Abbassi level allegations against Basit Ali that he admitted to
Intekab Alam that he was involved in "Satta and betting" on Matches. (Sorry for poor audio quaity in part of the video).
This allegation was repeated by Intekab Alam, who said, that he didn't include the incident in his report, because lack of evidence.
First of all, this is strange logic by Intekab Alam to ignore the acceptance of wrong doing by a player on the basis of lack of evidence. Logic says, he should have included his discussion with the player in his report and requested further investigation by the board. But strangely he didn't.
From our knowledge through the players and media, Basit Ali in fact stood against these practices in Pakistani team, and he sacrificed his career doing so. We still remember him and Rashid Latif taking the stance against corruption and fixing in Paksitani cricket.
The Question is why now Arif Ali Abbasi levelled allegations against a player against whom nobody level any allegations of wrong doings for decades!!
Basit Ali has issued this statement in response and challenged that the allegations should be proven in the courts.
The most strange part is that Abbasi also tried to clear Saleem Malik from the allegations made by 3 Australian Cricketers.
If you know any Pakistani Cricketer personally, you will find out that Malik was indeed very dirty and he was one of the pioneer of match fixing in Pakistani Cricket.
Another Ex-PCB head Khalid Mehmood repeated serious allegations against Wasim Akram.
Two observations, what Khalid Mehmood said born out from the evidence and record. Justice Qayyum reports clearly identified few cricketers including Wasim Akram and Waqar Younus and recommended that they should never been assigned any roles by the PCB.
According to my knowledge, Wasim, Waqar, Mushtaq Ahmed, Saleem Malik, Ijaz Ahmed etc. were part of a group, who were regularly involved in match fixing and having relations with the bookies.
I have meet Wasim decades ago in London during his tour. I visited him in his London hotel and had a long chat with him. Even now some members of my family are in touch with Wasim.
In those days, his comments were "saab chalta hai".
My family member had "Nikkah" with a first cousin of Ijaz Ahmed during the period all these cricketers were part of Pakistani cricket team.
I know for a fact that Ijaz Ahmed in home settings accepted it often.
Ask anyone who was involved in Pakistani cricket or were part of Pakistani Cricket , they will tell you that Wasim Akram was always in the talks for the wrong reasons.
If you happen to know someone personally and close to them, they may open up to you and tell you the stories which going to make you realise how dirty some of the biggest names in Pakistani cricket were.
