There have been hints about system change over the past few months, maybe they were waiting for an opportunity and everything that is happening is being controlled to achieve this?

It can be a controlled chaos. I don't see Imran Khan's government surviving. But I see corruption, handicapped-ness of the leader, non-delivery, black mailing being exposed to the masses & the world.

If you ask my opinion i thought it was a chance to bring new blood under Ik leadership to train them for next generations. I dont want Electables in pti. Only fresh blood who do things as per new requirements of modern governes system.

Sure.... At least let the old blood finish a tenure or two??

Q league don't care at all right now about the government or opposition.

Their price for joining PDM was CM Punjab seat. Their price paid for joining PTI is the same. Their goal is run things for a short time, win a few extra seats and make arrangements ahead of any upcoming election. If they last longer than a few months, a year or more, then it's a big bonus for them.
Totally correct. Chaudhries are masters at playing with numbers. In a fractured polity they would play the role of king-makers just as JUI did in 1970s. Mufti Mehmood (Molana Fazal-ur-Rehman's father) became CM NWFP with very few seats.

This is a quirk of Parliamentary democracy. This is how a member of parliament from a minority party can become the chief executive of a province or a country. This feature has pros & cons, but I think pros out-weigh the cons in a multi-ethnic country.

In any case, if Pervez Elahi does become CM Punjab (it is still a question mark until votes are cast) then Punjab would be slightly better off in many ways. Do note that if this comes to pass, expect Chaudhries to prepare rigging just as in 2008 where many constituencies reported 25 K votes when in fact PML-Q polling offices had no traffic at all (I saw it myself in multiple polling stations in Lahore). They had purchased CNICs from thousands of poor people in months leading up to GE 2008 - I think newspapers reported it as 3-5K per card. That was a lot of public money finding its way to the poor via Chaudhries & their machinery.

Chaudry pervaiz was the best choice from day 1 instead of that goof 'tommy'' buzdaar , but by this whole blackmailing shit ....... IK shoul not have taken this decision now .

I think Buzdar was a Trump card all along.... Imran knew the system one day will close up on him... He kept a weak unpopular Punjab CM to use at a time to tilt the equation in his favor when the time came.

It did come and he used the coveted Punjab seat to turn the tables....

Just the Game of Thrones conspiracy swirling around in my head.... Never know...

In Monopoly boardgame terms... Imran had a "get out of jail card" which was Buzdar...
Notice how Buzdar like a loyal weak pet folded without a word of objection... He too knew he was just a seat warmer.

khan made the right call in view of developing situation. I agree with this.

Choosing Pervez Elahi as CM punjab, Imran Khan has made sure punjab doesn't go back to PMLN otherwise it was gone. This is good in my opinion that punjab must not go in plmn hands whatsoever.

I love Elahi but as a PTI supporter this means PMLn would lose vote to Q not PTI

And if you can't put up a good performance in Punjab, 2/3rd majority remains a distant dream

What if the assurances have been made that for the next election Chaudhry's (PMLQ) will contest on PTI ticket and Pervaiz Elahi can retain the CMship? ;)

Will the next election not have EVM? Would that counter this sort of fraud?

A meekish and harmless CM Buzdar was a good choice by PM IK actually, the South Punjab DG Khan, to Bahawalpur, Taunsa Sharif to Rahimyar Khan, to other region will get PTI support in next elections, to quite an extent.

If Pervez Elahi, Aleem Khan or any other powerful rich political person was the CM Punjab, by this time would have eaten a big chunk of Punjab budget funds, PSDP, and with it getting huge political support by wheeling and dealing, and that would have dented PTI badly with more bargaining power for PMLQ.

And he could be used as a pawn to save the king...just like it is done.

This can happen but imran khan has no other choice else will loose everything. One other option is for the time being just save yourself from no confidence and then after few months absorb assemblies and do the election.
They are blackmailing Imran Khan since 2019 or 20 ab Imran itna kamzoor ho chuka ha inkay samnay surrender kar diya ha this is first major defeat of Imran Khan
Imran khan shuru say hi kamzor tha. Federal no majority aur allies ko mila kay hukumat wo b 4 partiyan. Similarly punjab main b pmlq ko milana parha but wahan apna jahangir tareen group aur aleem khan group ban gaye..

I don't know the answer to that question. Firstly, I am not sure that EVMs could be in place at all. Secondly, for such a fraud to happen, polling staff needs to be on-board. Q-League had been in power for 5 years & Chaudhries had been in Mushy's good books (after all it was ISI which created Q-League on Mushy's order to begin with, using NAB & case files) for more than that. So it was not surprising that rigging at that level had succeeded. However, people's reaction against Q-League was so severe that rigging at that scale did not make much difference. The PML-N winning margins were twice the votes counted for Q-League in most places (saying that from what I recall, see results to cross-check).

According to Dr. Safdar Mahmood (former head of IB), any more than 15% rigging becomes noticeable and invites serious reaction.

EVMs are a whole can of worms in themselves. Unless these are backed up by paper evidence, these would always invite suspicion. Even with paper-backed EVM system, there would scarcely be enough resources to handle all the objections raised. Remember the probe into voting for constituencies where PTI had disputed in 2013 (4 in the beginning, raised to 35 later?), the votes were available for a recount, but after a lot of trouble had been raised & courts had been involved. Election Commission does not have the wherewithal to handle the sheer number of complaints which surely would multiply with presence of EVM.

Three things need to happen for people to trust EVMs:

1. Strong countermeasures against hacking or other ways of data manipulation.
2. A strong & independent EC that wields enough authority to punish errant elected officials. We can't see that happening as of yet.
3. Zero interference from various agencies - ISI, NAB, Army in general, Bureaucrats, etc...

Until & unless the above three are thoroughly established, I do not see EVMs becoming accepted.

Blockchain is the answer - according to my limited understanding of Blockchain.

It was by design, no one wants an honest and upright person to have total control. He is not only dangerous for corrupt politicians but also corrupt establishment people. Corruption is everywhere in some form.
