Surprise while organizing gay-parades and being the first in the region opening gay-only hotels, gay-tourism? Is this a joke?

I translated the article... Nowhere did I read "surprised locals". It looks more like advertisement made for Azeri Iranians who live near the border of Turkey... It says there was foam, drinking and dancing till the morning and that the people were Tehranis and Azeris from Iran.

Shapur is probably right. It's a well known fact that Iranian Azeri people are a "little bit more open" than ethnic Persian Iranians.

I once visited an 'Iranian' party in Istanbul. Believe me, 80% of the people were Azeris. They spoke Turkish with me. It's easier for them to travel to Turkey due to the fact that they speak the language.

However, they're Iranian citizens and they are legally privileged in Turkey (no visa restrictions). As long as they obey the laws of the country they're welcome.
