Palm oil falls 2% on lower-than-expected exports amid India-Malaysia tensions

I think we in Bangladesh should help uncle Mahathir by buying palm oil from Malaysia as a substitute for India $hit edible oil products. So should other Muslim countries. These Sanghis are asking for a fight.

Eat $hit Sanghis.

And who wrote this friggin anti-Malay article? Two ingrate Malay-Chinese and another Ingrate anti-Malay Indian. 2% drop is nothing.

Malay and Indonesian brothers, see the colors of these people. Treacherous Fifth columnists!!

@UKBengali bhai look at this...
Totally agreed bro...I was thinking of something along similar lines...
‘We’re Too Small to Take Retaliatory Action’: Malaysian PM on India’s Palm Oil Boycott

...but unfortunately I don't think Muslim countries will do anything. They lack the kinda unity(even just a basic economic one) to stand up to this crap even though they can easily bring India to its knees if they wanted to.

.
@Indos this is great. We should convert all our cars to run on biodiesel. I don't know if this is cheaper than 95 Octane Petroleum...

Furthermore, Malaysians should seriously consider treating their local Indian Hindu population like what India is doing for the Indian Muslims. Tit for tat...

Yup, biodiesel program will absorb many of palm oil out put, this year we have implemented 30 % biodiesel program and we need to build more refineries if we are going to implement 40 % or even 50 % biodiesel program. Actually the government has discouraged the palm oil plantation expansion and has issued moratorium to freeze more expansion. We are anticipating 2030 period where EU is expected to ban the use of palm oil.

Sumatra island which house majority of palm oil plantation in Indonesia will rather increase its industrialization program and to achieve that we are going to stop gas supply to Singapore starting at 2023 where the 20 years contract will be expired. Gas supply will be diverted to meet industry demand in Sumatra island.

Government has also build massive toll road in Sumatra island for further industrializing the island.

It not just Indian. EU ,one of the major buyers of palm oil has cut down number of import due to environment concern. Palm oil price has taken a beating.. Bangladesh has no way to save Malaysia unless it has trillion of money.
Good for the orangutans.

only indian public is going to suffer at the end
is palm oil oxygen? If the price increases, quantity demanded will simply decrease. Microeconomics 101. And it's not like there aren't plenty of alternatives to palm oil.

Also, Indonesia exports crude palm oil, which is cheaper than refined palm oil, which is what Malaysia exports

.
Well there are other Muslim countries too, like Pakistan, Turkey, the whole Middle East. Time that all these countries acted like a single global market and flexed their collective buying power.

Here are the top 15 countries that spent the most on imported palm oil during 2018.

  2. China: $3.4 billion (10.8%)

  4. Netherlands: $1.8 billion (5.7%)
  5. Spain: $1.3 billion (4.2%)
  6. United States: $1.1 billion (3.6%)
  7. Bangladesh: $1 billion (3.3%)
  8. Italy: $997 million (3.2%)
  9. Russia: $748.4 million (2.4%)
  10. Egypt: $686.2 million (2.2%)

  15. Malaysia: $452.8 million (1.4%)

Lol...collectively? have ever Muslim countries done anything collectively? they can never be collective.

..and what is the relevance of the list with your point of view, you posted?....from this list there are only 3 Muslim countries that can be related to your post..and "Collectively" they don't even import 2/3 of what Indian import from Malaysia (besides one of these collective country is Malaysia itself).

Palm oil competes with other vegetable oils especially soybean and sunflower oils, people here don't understand palm oil is lowest of the low vegetable oil available,it's not the quality of ghee or mustard oil,GOI is also now going with awareness programme regarding palm oil and it's fatal consequences like climate change & cancer causing, we will import crude palm oil for the time being from Indonesia but eventually all will get replaced by soybean & sunflower oil , regards Malaysia, the palm oil is one part of the elaborate economic strategy against the adversary, old senile man has sensed it hence playing the pity card that we're too small for retaliation because he knows what's coming

LOL palm oil cause cancer is a fake, if it is true, it has been banned world wide long time ago. That is only a bad campaign from European countries who produce sun flower oil which is much less productive than palm oil.

LOL Climate change ??? You should blame industrialization for that, palm oil plantation give huge oxygen to the world. Do you thing sun flower plants will produce more oxygen than a big palm oil tree ?

Palm Oil plantation in Sumatra island, Indonesia.

This is they do on harvesting sunflower plants which is actually destroying all plants altogether, really different with how palm oil plants are harvested which only take the fruits and not destroying the tree

Arabic league boycott ??? Dont you know that almost all Muslim countries are boycotting Israel, including Indonesia?

Even their PM cannot use our airspace to reach Australia

Without financial help from USA every year, Israel will be near bankrupt.

Palm oil prices to climb 17.9% in 2020 on tight supplies, biodiesel programs: Reuters poll

Mei Mei Chu
4 MIN READ

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Average palm oil prices will surge 17.9% this year, a Reuters poll of industry participants showed, as reduced output in the first half of the year and higher biodiesel consumption in top producers Indonesia and Malaysia tighten the market.

Benchmark palm oil prices will average 2,650 ringgit ($650.80) a ton in 2020, up from 2,248 ringgit last year, according to the median estimate from a poll of 18 analysts and industry players.

“With relatively low production in the first quarter, production will only be sufficient for export and not for topping up stock,” said Derom Bangun, chairman of the Indonesia Palm Oil Board.

Supplies are expected to rebound later in the year, however, and prices could be “much lower from April to December”, said Sandeep Bajoria, chief executive of Sunvin Group, a vegetable oil importer based in Mumbai.

Indonesia’s palm production is pegged to rise 0.55% to 45.75 million tonnes in 2020 from an estimated 45.5 million tonnes in 2019, according to the median estimate of 14 poll respondents who answered questions specifically on Indonesia’s palm sector.

This is compared to output growth of 5.8% in 2019 over 2018’s total of 43 million tonnes, sources said.

Output in No.2 producer Malaysia will grow by 0.35% to 19.93 million tonnes this year, based on the median estimate from 14 participants.

In 2019, Malaysia’s production rose 1.85% to 19.86 million tonnes, up from 2018’s 19.5 million tonnes.

The slower output growth is due to dry weather and lower fertilizer usage in both countries last year, when palm prices dropped as low as 1,960 ringgit.

Indonesia and Malaysia together account for nearly 90 percent of global palm production.

BIODIESEL
“(In) year 2020 much depends on whether Indonesia can produce 10 million kilolitres of biodiesel,” said Christopher Chai, a general manager with Malaysia’s Kwantas Corp.

The market will be closely watching the roll-out of Indonesia’s B30 biodiesel program - biodiesel with 30% palm content - and Malaysia’s newly implemented B20 program, as together they are expected to increase local consumption by 10%-13%, traders said.

Indonesia is targeting 10 million kilolitres (8.7 million tonnes) of biodiesel production this year, while Malaysia’s biodiesel association is expecting to produce 1.7 million to 2 million tonnes of the fuel.

TRADE WARS
Ongoing trade disputes between China and the United States, India and Malaysia, and the European Union and Indonesia will likely affect export shipments this year, poll respondents said.

“The Indonesian government’s battle with the EU on the latter imposing anti-dumping duties on Indonesian biodiesel exporters will hog the media attention,” Sathia Varqa, owner and co-founder of Singapore-based Palm Oil Analytics, said.
Really? This report is just an estimation.

Look at this chart for 2019 palm oil prices... It has already take a heavy beating in 2019. Even if it climb 20%, palm oil is still an sunset industries. EU has given the blow. Palm oil is not some essential items.

Indonesia just started its 30 % biodiesel program in 2020, next year we plan to increase it into 40 %. Just wait for 2020 data. Anyway Indonesia has also discouraged palm oil plantation expansion and has issued moratorium to freeze its expansion. We are focusing on other variety of plants and also for Sumatra we are going to industrialize further. I have said already that we no longer supply Singapore with gas starting at 2023 (contract expiration) and will divert the gas that is produced in Sumatra to industry in Sumatra island.

Palm oil is still the most productive plan to produce edible oil, much better than sunflower oil and soyabeans oil (that China produce). Also both sunflower and soyabeans plantation look like grass, not producing oxygen as much as Palm Oil tree.

A typical reply that points towards where a squirrel try to scream like that a Lions Roar .

First lesson in diplomatic courtesy donot interefere in personal matters of other nations .
Uncle Mahathir forhot these basic thing and now suffers.

Who do you think buys all of Indian food products? Onion, Dhaal, everything....

In India, standard lunch is one skinny roti with a bite of onion...we don't have these habits...

Bangladesh is major consumer of Indian food products. There are locally established producers of Indian FMCG goods, the volume is so high.

Food products is just a fraction part of our export .
Do you want the link where the BDis crying because we stop the Onion exports .

You are not even in position to help yourselves let alone Malayasia.

only indian public is going to suffer at the end

We have coconut oil,Sunflower pil,Mustard oil,Seasame oil and then palm oil from Indonesia.
If want Govt can subsidise it .
So no problem at all.

Arabic league boycott ??? Dont you know that almost all Muslim countries are boycotting Israel, including Indonesia?

Doubtful about that .
Israelis are different class. Its right that all Muslim nations hate them

But the latest news is that they are now exporting petroleum also .Then weapon exports and most of global conglomerates is influenced by Jews in one way or another .

I'm sure Indian palm oil purchase is 3 billion or less from Malaysia. So if we add pakistan and Bangladesh it is equal to 3 billion. We can easily replace it. Instead of Indonesia and else where we can buy from Malaysia. While Indonesia can increase the price for Bharti terrorists. Put $h1t on these Bharti low lives faces.

So much emotion
