Palestinians mourn death of a Bangladeshi war hero

Hmmm....CGS? Mastermind? Sunshine Grammar?

I presume these are the name of some posh schools, I didn't attend any of these.

I just grew up in a English rich environment, and a family that spoke English at home. Total Emersion is the key to learning languages, I only learnt of this fact the hard way when I struggled to pick up on German initially.

Have you studied any higher education subjects? What's your profession if you don't mind me asking?

I'm a student, well currently I'm just a load on my parents, I used to study in Dhaka university but I dropped out after some run-ins with Chattra League mongrels.

Here's the funny bit, I was a political science student, and as fate would have it in some twisted yet ironic way, I got hounded out of school by self proclaimed 'student activists'.

You may see me take the piss on BCL, now you know where that comes from.

@Al-Ansar I butcher Bangla, don't I ?

Guys lets not fight over which country he belonged to.

It is our shame in Bangladesh that we did not accord him the honor he so richly deserved. He got more accolades from overseas countries than at home. That in short says a lot of things and what we need to do honor our own Bangladeshi heroes and talented folks. Let this be a lesson to us.

Pakistan named an airbase (formerly Mianwali) for MM Alam, I hear there are installations at Sargodha named after Saiful Azam. Where is this hero's remembrance in Bangladesh? Claiming him as an ethnic Bangladeshi is one thing, but have we really honored him, which he deserved?

There is MM Alam road in Lahore as well. I am not from Lahore but someone can correct me, its one the major roads in Lahore.

Here the Air chief himself inquiring about his health during his last days. Man standing is the current PIA chief and one of the top guy in JF17 program.

Indeed its quite strange why a man of such stature as Saiful Azam was ignored. Did he receive any medal from successive governments in Bangladesh?

You guys from that part of world certain have talent in flying that should be acknowledged though. Our new ace, the SU30 killer, Sq leader Hassan Siddique is of Bihar origin, just like MM Alam was.

Saiful Azam I believe belonged to BNP politically, so naturally Awami League ignored his achievements.

On top of that he was somehow semi-involved in a bizarre botched coup attempt at some point.

The combined overall effect that he was largely ignored, though during BNP times he ran the Dhaka Airbase (BAF Base Bashar), Civil Aviation Board and also the Film Development Corporation in multiple stints.

In Bangladesh we admire our Fauji folks much less, the difference between Pakistan and Bangladesh in public recognition sphere is rather pronounced in this manner. Though I'd surmise that our Air Force (if not the state) could certainly have honored him a bit more in hindsight.

His younger brother Air Vice Marshal (retd.) Fakhrul Azam did become Air Force chief though, so there was some recognition. And he was laid to rest with full military honors.

Not saying this is scientific or anything but note the comments of Pakistanis on Bangladeshi videos on YouTube and vice versa.

There are far more posts of mutual support/love than otherwise.

PDF has its fair share of racist cretins for sure.

But don't let that cloud your perception of Pakistanis as a whole.

Also, it is mutually beneficial for both to move on from the past for obvious current geopolitical reasons.

Also as an example, the US and UK certainly have.

Hell for that matter so have Israel and Germany.

So have a little perspective.

I don't use forums to form my opinions. I haven't lost perspective either. But don't want to discuss further on it.

Lmao ironic that this meme is coming from the same people who would call Matiur Rahman a traitor but make Saiful Azam a hero just because the latter shot down more aircrafts.
Funny is both of them wanted to fight for East Pakistan (Bangladesh’s) cause in 1971

And he attempted to fight against Pakistan in 71...

Really? He was the base commander of Dhaka airbase and served in flight safety and instructor roles. And retired early on his own accord after airforce coup
Again no one is trying to take away anything from Pakistan. It’s Pakistanis who’s trying to discredit his identity or skills as if his skill was unique to a Pakistani and Pakistani alone.
I don’t see any Americans here trying to steal a dead mans glory just because they trained him

We have big hearts buddy we even regards to those americans and polish pilots who were with us in those crises. we have own ways maybe you are used to see things from india(shouting) prospectives. anyways we utilise him in arab war Allah blessed us with such a talent later its his own choice to go back to usa china europe or bangla.
he have our respect.

I wonder, what happened to BD posters in the PDF that they are criticizing Pakistanis for saying Saiful Azam belonged to Pakistan Air Force (PAF). Is it historically right or wrong? PAF recruited and trained him to become an Ace Pilot in those days. Naturally, the credit goes to PAF and Pakistan. It was that Pakistan of which Bangladesh was also a part.

So, why should people criticize Pakistani posters for telling the truth?

It has been explained to death a billion times.

There is difference between of PAF of today and the PAF Azam served.

The "PAF" of 1947-1971 was a product of United Pakistan. Taxes, brains, blood and effort of both East and West went into creating Pakistan and its institutions.

It is utterly shortsighted and outright idiotic to say that East Pakistan/Bangladesh had zero role in Azam's achievements.

Is that clear enough or do we need to justify independence of Bangladesh as well and explain why the liberation war was not a "prestige project"?
