KARACHI: Another undefeated Mixed Martial Arts prospect from Pakistan will put his impressive record on the line in a strawweight title fight on Saturday in Quezon City, Philippines as part of the Blaze Fighting Championship.
The MMA fighter in question is Muhammad Imran, who has a professional record of five wins and no losses. The only time he was bested inside the cage was as an amateur before he embarked on a professional career.
Pakistan’s Ahmed ‘Wolverine’ Mujtaba extends undefeated MMA streak
The 25-year-old Imran is a 5’4, 115lb strawweight who fights out of Gujar Khan-based PAKIDO MMA team.
Standing in Imran’s way and the title this Saturday will be Philippines’ local boy Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado, who has an identical 5-0 record like Imran’s and has also never tasted a defeat in his young pro career.
Bashir Ahmad finishes off Egyptian opponent in opening round
Both the fighters seem to have very different fighting styles though.
Imran — like many of his fellow Pakistani fighters — is known to favour fighting on the ground — a notion validated by the fact that four of his five wins have come via submission.
Miado, meanwhile, has only one submission win out of five, although he has two knockouts, including a spectacular headkick finish. Those finishes as well as Filipino fighters’ general preference to stand and trade makes this bout an intriguing matchup, stylistically-speaking.
Ahmed Mujtaba signs for Asia’s biggest MMA promotion
The fight will be broadcast live at 1pm PST on Blaze Fighting Championship’s Facebook page.
