Pakistan's defence budget surpasses $9 Billion. Budget 2017

Defence budget of Pakistan has crossed the 9Billion dollar mark, hopefully our defence forces can now look to procure some new equipment. Army is doing well and so is the Navy with 8 new subs on their way however, our airforce is in dire need of a new platform whether our air chief admits it or not. What's your take guys.

This 35 billion PKR is just for HEC( higher education commission), for scholarships to students for studies abroad. Education is a provincial subject and it will be announced in the local provinces budget...

Number 4,5,6 are taken care of by that defence budget, so please stop bitching and start yelling to the civilian govts to stop rampant corruption and spend more on education rather than building metros and subways which we cant afford...

That's why the literacy rate is going down eh!? While you are the lowest spender on education in South Asia.

Education should be provided more funds but other sectors should pay for it not defence, even a cent of defence money will not be sacrificed for any other sector, first we have to survive as an independant nation and we need defence for that, education and stuff comes ofter that...tum log aisa karo sell the windows and doors of ur houses and spend it on education as ur so unconcerned about security and dont qoute me again, im tired of debating u retard degenarate brain fart imbeciles....

The subs are on order. Obviously it takes time for them to be manufactured but atleast the Navy is on the right path.

9 billion US is still very low, simply for the fact that Pakistan now manufacture about 70% of its defence related arms, including fighter jets(JF-17) to Al-Khalid battle tanks and just about everything.

India imports about 90% of defence equipment from US, Russia and European countries hence high defence budget of 53 billion USD.

Pakistan doing much better here if you look at the 1:2, 1:3 ratio of Pakistan and India armaments including number of air crafts, tanks, number of troops...the ratio is much lower here in numbers than the low defence budget of Pakistan suggests.
