Thousands of Pakistanis have held an anti-Israel march in the country’s major city of Karachi, rejecting the possibility of Pakistan’s normalizing ties with the occupying Israeli regime.
The "million-man march" organized by opposition Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) was held on Thursday with participants donning the colors of the JUI-F and raising tall black and white striped flags.
The JUI-F had earlier objected to any moves by government authorities to normalize relations with Tel Aviv under foreign pressure.
“Israel is involved in the genocide of Muslims in Palestine and we would never allow the federal government to establish diplomatic relations with it,” said JUI-F leader Maulana Saleemullah Alwazi at the rally as quoted to Pakistani daily The News International.
In recent months, the news of deals signed by a few Arab dictatorships to normalize diplomatic relations with Israel under intense US pressure has sparked widespread anger among Pakistani people, who hold strong feelings for the Palestinian cause against the brutal Israeli occupation.
In December, top Pakistani officials fiercely denied rumors publicized by Israeli news outlets that Islamabad was moving towards a similar deal.
Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan rejected as "baseless" reports of his government officials visiting the Israeli-occupied Palestine, insisting why would any of his ministers visit Tel Aviv when Islamabad does not even recognize the occupying regime, rejecting the rumors as part of "an entire campaign" targeting his administration.

Citing a source close to the Tel Aviv regime, Israel Hayom and other Israeli dailies published a report claiming that the Pakistani aide had met with Israeli officials during an alleged trip to Tel Aviv.
The apparent propaganda story also claimed the Pakistani official was carrying a message from Khan that reflected his “strategic decision” to open political and diplomatic talks with the regime.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also stated later in December that he had informed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) -- one of the US-backed kingdoms that recently recognized the Tel Aviv regime -- of Islamabad's “steadfast” policy towards the Israeli regime, insisting that the country will refuse to recognize the occupying regime until the issue of Palestine is resolved.
“I categorically presented Pakistan’s stance on Israel to the UAE’s foreign minister that we will not and cannot establish a relationship with Israel until a concrete and permanent solution to the Palestine issue is found,” he said in press briefing during a visit to the UAE on December 21.

Qureshi rebuffed reports about Islamabad being under pressure to recognize Israel and said, “Number one, there will be no pressure on us nor there is. Number two, we have to make decisions keeping Pakistan’s interests in view and not because of any pressure. We have a policy and we are still steadfast on it.”
The top Pakistani diplomat also said that he had explained to his Emirati counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the “depth of emotions and feelings Pakistanis have about Palestine and Kashmir.”
The normalization trend has drawn widespread condemnation from Palestinians, who seek an independent state in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, with East Jerusalem al-Quds as its capital. They say the deals ignore their rights and do not serve the Palestinian cause.
