Pakistani Ship Hits Pier Near Naval Station Mayport

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Pakistani Naval ship was damaged after hitting a pier near Naval Station Mayport.

The ship is Alamgir. It was formerly U. S. S. McInerney, but was decomissioned by the U. S. Navy in September and then recommissioned to Pakistan.

First Coast News contacted the Pakistani Embassy in Washington D. C. for comment, but we have not heard back.

Mayport officials said the ship had been docked in the shipyard at BAE Systems.

IMO, that ship is too old to be deployed by PN, better to save money to buy some new one.

IMO, that ship is too old to be deployed by PN, better to save money to buy some new one.

The type 21s currently the backbone of PN are both less capable and older. So while it may not be a modern platform it is still a cost effective ship.

I was once on the docked PN Behr Paima at PN Dockyards and badaboom!!!! a PN trawler going through the channel came straight and hit the Behr Paima at stern! If these sailors can hit parked ships they can most certainly hit parked piers too!!!!

we got a frigate at 70million.

even if this is old it is better then all of our other frigates.

this is old for USA nt for us

remember they are replacing f-16 in the coming year and also replacing aim 120 with new BVR which we got this year

so we and USA are different..they are very far from us
