Lemme start by saying that I find it laughable that people on this thread can actually put a “better than” comment when talking about food, when taste is such a subjective thing...
Personally I feel restaurant food is never the true test of how good a country’s food can be, especially in the west. There really isn’t any innovation in Indian or Pakistani cuisine when it comes to restaurants. Both have the same Tikka masala, daal, chhole, the basic shit..
Indian Accent, a brand new molecular gastronomy restaurant in NYC is the only resto ive seen that has made an effort at changing that narrative for me. Truly worth trying if you get a chance to eat there. The reservation is hard to get though.
Home cooked food is where I feel one can really taste the difference and variety. I recently went to a bbq at a Pakistani friends house and the tangdi Kabab my friends father cooked would make kobe beef taste like garbage. Never have I tasted this in a restaurant.
If we can ever let go of this hatred and mistrust of each other, I would love to travel to Pakistan and eat the home cooked food at a Pakistani friends house.
