KARACHI: A Pakistani cricketer has been let off with a warning after he allegedly brought a female guest to his hotel room in a possible “honey trap” plot during the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

According to media reports, the organisers had outlawed any such activities during the tournament to avoid any entrapment from match-fixers.

“The organisers had advised players to not invite female guests to their rooms,” a source told Press Trust of India. “In the case of this Pakistani player, he was advised in particular about a foreign national girl who was on the watch list of the anti-corruption investigators in the BPL.”

Bangladesh players fined for entertaining females in their hotel rooms

The player, who currently represents Pakistan, was pulled by organisers when security officials found the same female guest in his room. However, he escaped any financial penalties since he was an overseas signing.

Earlier, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) levied a record fine on two national team players for what it called “serious” breaches of discipline after they reportedly entertained female guests in their hotel rooms.

Pace bowler Al-Amin Hossain and batsman Sabbir Rahman were both fined around $15,000 for “serious off-field disciplinary breaches” during the BPL.

BPL rocked again by match-fixing allegation

“The players have been reminded of their responsibility as national cricketers and have been warned that any repetition of similar acts of indiscretion in the future will result in a harsher penalty,” said the BCB in a statement.

The fines are the highest ever imposed on a Bangladeshi player on disciplinary grounds. Al-Amin’s amounts to 50 per cent of his BPL contract money for playing for the Barisal Bulls while Sabbir’s is equal to 30 per cent of his pay from the Rajshahi Kings.

.
do pakistani players routinely invite female guests to their rooms in pakistan?

. . .
Are restrictions like these imposed upon players performing in soccer, NFL, CFL, NHL?? So why this bias for cricket? If match fixing is a concern, players must mandatorily register the guest coming to their room who can then be screened against known aliases of honey trappers.

. .
Does the reporter even know what a honey trap is?

.
Bullcrap.
PAKiSTANI PLAYER
and
FEMALE.
These are the only points under emphasis of this report.
I dont want to point out any furthur for all sane minded reader.
Anti Pakistan Fever is quite common in some circles so no worries

.
So my question is did they improve the diplomatic relations between the two nations or not...
By the way , why restrictions on female guests only....where is it written that a male guest cannot fix a match...
or was it an attempt to stop bed fixing?

its very rare case.........and could be a BS Story, just to create hype against Pakistani Players......as their is already some groups are behind this from India........

Lol I was waiting when Pakistanis start accusing Indians for fornication and corruption by Pakistani players, a record that is long and shining indeed.

Also see the self certificate, it's a rare case.

I don't blame these posters, their rulers have trained them.

International hockey federation replace Pakistan in junior hockey because they miss multiple deadlines, some brigadier or such running pak hockey blames India.

Pakistan sends squash tournament because they send visa forms to the - wait for it - wrong freaking country, some airforce guy running pak squash blames Indian origin head of international squash.

First pakistan needs to get professional administrators, as their masters in uniform are doing a bad job.

All things aside how was this a honey trap plot, Isn't he the one with a lot at stake rather than that nobody girl?

Yes. And then the girl and her associates can blackmail him into spot fixing or something similar. This would be a even bigger problem if the cricketer was married.

Yes I know that but the heading is kind of misleading, wont you agree? It kind of gives the idea as if he was the one who set the honey trap.
