Pakistan's nuclear program, by the way of credit, can be divided among 4 different regimes.

• Nuclear Weapons program in Pakistan was founded under Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in 1970s. The
initial difficult work was done in his era. (30% credit)

• The program matured under General Zia's rule in 1970s-1980s and cold tests were done as
early as 1983. Also F-16 Aircraft, capable of delivering the nukes were obtained. (50% credit)

• Missile delivery systems for nukes were initiated in 1989-1990 under Benazir Bhutto. Also the
program took its final shape. (15% credit)

• Nuclear bombs were finally tested during Nawaz Sharif's tenure in 1998, in the wake of Indian
explosions. (5% credit)

. . .
As I understand, the nuke program credit goes only to Bhutto and then Zia, none other.

When a program had been going on for so long and reached an advanced state, there was no way that it was going to be stopped, besides the military apparatus was doing most of the work in collaboration with the civilians so they would have pressurized the civilians not to stop it.

So Benazir and Nawaz Sharif deserve no credit. It is even reported that Nawaz Sharif didn't want the explosions!

Bullshit!

NS was against the nuke program, in fact, unlike Zia and ZAB, he was never given access to sites and info about the nuke program. He was against it too. If he had his way, we would have exchanged nukes for 'aid' which then would have been syphoned off by him and his family.

That Ganja should get no credit, if anything, his role in power was a threat to our nuke program. Same with BB, she had nothing to do with it.

Damn noon league supporters, stop being so bloody naive! :hitwall:

Because they were running the government that's why credit goes to their government ... Otherwise they contributed 0% ... Actual person who contributed in nuclear program it was Ghulam Ishaq Khan ..............

No. They deserve zero credit.
If anything I would say negative credit.

The nuke program would have been done with OR without them.
If any credit is due, it should be whether they directly helped the program, sped it along.
But NS was the complete opposite. He wanted to get rid of them.

Wake up PMLN supporters, your leader is fooling you (once again).

They are down playing it.
But even if they're PTI supporters.

I disagree with them, NS deserves no credit at all!

With that said.

Three regimes should get most of the credit.

-ZAB
-Zia ul Haq
-Mushy (even though it's after, he supported nuke program, enlarged stockpile, enhanced delivery systems and capabilities).

@Echelon

Nawas sharif wrote his PhD paper on 'Rocket propulsion and delivery systems', im surprised noon supporters didn't mention that. :coffee:

Top credit must go to the military who had been pressing for this. And don't forget the common man. He also craved for nukes. If Benazir could have her way she might have shut down the programme. The delivery system came in the momentum of the project itself. No credit for Benazir here. Nawaz Sharif is an astute politician. He had to conduct the tests because of the tremendous pressure on him from the people and military after India's tests followed by night and day breast-thumping.
