ANKARA: A large number of Turks on Wednesday got a first-hand experience of the taste and aroma of the Pakistani mangoesas they converged here at a gathering to feast on a wide spread of mango delights made out of freshly-arrived juicy fruit.

The event here at the Pakistan House was aimed at further popularizing Pakistani mangoes in Turkey and facilitating their availability in the local market.

The “Pakistan Mango & Food Festival”, organized by the Embassy of Pakistan, coincided with the celebration of the Independence Day of Pakistan.

Key political figures, fruit importers, diplomats and media representatives attended the festival in which the guests were served with fresh mango and mango cuts, and wide-range of mango delicacies such as milk-shake, lassi, ice cream, salad, soufflé, mousse, trifle, tart, pudding, and cake, made of fresh mangoes from Pakistan.

Biryani’ made of famous Pakistani Basmati rice was also served at the festival with selected Pakistani music in the backdrop.

A photographic display of Pakistan’s natural beauty also formed part of the event.

Ambassador Syrus Sajjad Qazi said Pakistan was the 5th largest producer and the 6th largest exporter of mangoes .

“For Pakistanis, mango or ‘King of Fruits’ is an integral part of our history and rich culture,” he said, adding there were over 110 varieties of high quality Pakistani mangoes , including Sindhri, Anwar Retaul, Lungra, Malda, Dusehri, Fajri and the most popular Chaunsa.

Ali Sahin, Chairman of Turkey-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Turkish Parliament, said he first had a taste of mangoes when he was a university student in Pakistan.

He congratulated the people of Pakistan on the Independence Day and said 14th August was also very important in the Turkish history, as on this day, the Justice & Development Party (AK Party) was established 17 years ago.

He also thanked the leadership of Pakistan on showing strong solidarity with Turkey during challenging times.

Without a doubt Pakistani Mangoes and fruits are the best in the world .... and thats why the world buys from Pakistan in large numbers.

Such export oriented events should be held by each Embasay of Pakistan in the world.

I don't think there's any need to spew your hatred for India in every post of yours
I accept that Indian mangoes could be better. Frankly I am not fan of mangoes. Too sweet. Too sugary. Too messy.

Hatred for India? The other day I did some surfing in Indian forums just to see what's ticking across the border. Do visit Bharat Rakshak or Indian Defence and see what 'hate' means. Shocking !

In fact I am going to open a thread on this when I get the time.

I assume these mangoes are rubbish. If they were good the Pakistanis would call them 'desi' and our neighbours would jump in and call them "Indian".

The PK mangoes sold in Canada are amazing. Even most of the Indians there are Sikhs, and have no qualms of buying or marketing Pakistani products. Pakistani communities of UK and Canada are very strong minded, esp compared to the gutless American Pakistanis who name everything 'Indian or Indo-Pak.'

Yeh , getting sick of wanna be Mangoes of South America sold here in San Francisco.

Mexican mangoes are ... the worst. Marathon #%$^&.

I used to think Egyptian mango juice was horrid, until I got my hands on a bottle of 'for domestic sale only' Best mango pulp. Pretty good

I'm not a mango expert, but even if it's not the best, I always prefer Pakistani farmers produce.

Pakistani mangoes are objectively the best. They outsell anywhere they are competing with other countries' produce.

BTW, I found Turkish figs to be phenomenal. I have been buying more Turkish products because of the 'sanctions,' and I'm sitting in the US.

Trumpy can burn in Jahannum.

Sadly Pakistani mangoes are banned in Australia. :hitwall::hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:

instead we get Australian mangoes which only look good.

Of the varieties mentioned above at least three varieties (Lungra, Malda, Dusehri) has their origin in Gangadesh. Even the most famous Pakistani variety Anwar Retaul has its root in present day India. You know before 71 years there was not two history, but a single one.
