Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan will recognise the Taliban government in line with international consensus, ground realities as well as Pakistan’s national interests. “When the time comes, Pakistan will recognise the Taliban government in line with international consensus, ground realities, as well as Pakistan’s national interests,” the foreign minister told a press conference, adding that Pakistan has ‘no favourites’ in Afghanistan and the country is on the same page with the international community when it comes to finding a political solution to the Afghan crisis.

He said that the situation in Afghanistan is rapidly changing, however, the Embassy of Pakistan in the country is functioning normally. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi Sunday received a call from Dominic Raab, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, and reviewed the rapidly evolving situation in Afghanistan. Reiterating Pakistan’s steadfast support for a peaceful settlement, the foreign minister stated that the latest situation in Afghanistan required international community’s consistent engagement with the Afghan leaders to ensure a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. He expressed the hope that the Afghan leaders would take advantage of international convergence in support of peace and reconciliation process.

Meanwhile, Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said Pakistan is closely following the unfolding situation in Afghanistan and the Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul is extending necessary assistance to Pakistanis, the Afghan and other nationals in terms of consular work and flights.

If previous Afghan government formally recognizes the new government then it's hard not to accept the new reality. Besides, Taliban is the previous government of Afghanistan. Ex-Pres. Ghani literally fled his country, what a shame, right or wrong.

.
I think now these are formalities to attend for other global powers. They are realities. But Pakistan has to play smart and keep chack and balance on them. World can befit from it. Let the peace give a chance. 15 August was good lesson for students of history and modern powers wars can not win by modern weapons there are other elements need be take care. Over all well played

Good step!
Recognize Taliban and establish brotherly ties with them establish brotherly ties so they remain pro pak and don’t support ttp.
With effect diplomacy we can make Afghanistan like our iron brother ally in sha Allah.

Excellent move.

There is no point in delaying the inevitable, will only make the situation more complicated.

Everything else will be sorted out over time once we get off on a good start. Pakistan will gain alot so will IEA from brotherly relations. The potential is enourmous.

Delusional, why would the Kabul regime take TTP as prisoners? They were the ones sustaining them with Indian support. The BLA and TTP terrorists were roaming free, under Ghani's rule, that's why there were so many attacks in Pakistan. Taliban already gave their word that there won't be any terrorism from their land in any country. And I believe their word especially when it's a neighbor Islamic country. Every Indian should get it through their thick head, Taliban are ideological unlike TTP or BLA(who work only for money and power).

Mullah Omar's reply to George Bush " Allah has promised us victory and Bush has promised us defeat. The World will see which promise is truthful"

They gave word yet released TTP leaders and fighters ?

And already some years ago Taliban fighters were being carried by American air force planes to the battlefields of another Muslim-majority country, Syria, to fight against the government of Bashar al Assad.

So what is the TTP's view on women, progressive economics, progressive social system and such like ? Different to the Afghan Taliban ?

Mullah Omar's reply to George Bush " Allah has promised us victory and Bush has promised us defeat. The World will see which promise is truthful"

Mullah Omar's Taliban was a co-creation of George Bush's country whatever grand slogans the mullah might have made.

.
I suspect one of the major powers, example China, will recognise Taliban first and then Pakistan will immediately follow suit. I think all this is already planned. End of the day, Taliban are controlled by Pakistan so obviously they will recognised them.

You take us for someone whos born yesterday or you mistaken us for these Indians who would believe in conspiracy theories like Love Jihad back in India.. We know pretty much who is who and what is going on..

You have thrown alot of conspiracy theories to see what sticks..

But your little attempt of planting seeds or attempting to bait them against each other was juvenile but noneteless cute attempt
