ISLAMABAD: The prime minister's advisor on Wednesday said that efforts by India towards unilaterally altering the status of Kashmir would further compound an already complicated situation between the two countries.

"Unprovoked and indiscriminate firing and shelling from across the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, with Indian leadership threatening disproportionate use of force, portend India’s dangerous desire to create a space for war," Advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz told the concluding session of the two-day Ideas Conclave hosted by the Jinnah Institute.

Mr.Aziz said this behaviour also reveals a clear dichotomy in India’s insistence on eliminating terrorism on the one hand and creating distractions for Pakistan's armed forces engaged in a relentless and non-discriminatory counter-terrorism operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’.

Mr.Aziz said the cancellation of secretary-level talks by India on the pretext of Pakistan's High Commissioner meeting with Kashmiri leaders was found unconvincing worldwide.

And who gives a damn ? Had GOI paid heed to Pak's concerns then talks would never had stopped. Controlled aggression has to be shown where necessary to keep sending the right message across and 'Kashmir' is a topic where this govt where never budge on. Only hope for Pak gov and PA is for NDA being voted out of power in 2019 else this attitude (and very apt one) of GOI vis-a-vis Indo-Pak issues will remain same unless Pak finally decides to solve all issues 'rationally'. India is a much bigger power is every sense and unless they can get this fact down their throat, they will continue to find it hard to deal with India.

India is trying to devour Kashmir in one go, we need to make sure it becomes a haddi they can't swallow! - Kashmir belongs to the people of Kashmir not north Indian Hindutvas.

Indian position on Kashmir has not changed one iota whether it was the Congress government or BJP. So using 'north' and hindutva type of qualifications is meaningless.

What is different is that the BJP govt has taken a more aggressive stance against border incursions and firings which the Pakistani government and military are having to adjust to. This sort of statements are part of that adjustment.Between the 'disproportionate' retaliatory punishment and the laser coverage being rolled out (with Israely help I am guessing) there may be internal pressure mounting within the Pakistani establishment perhaps.

It would be this BJP gov. is "inappropriate" to be elected in an updated world of more reigional cooperation.

Backfire will only hamp your efforts to be a "superpawa#" bragging...
