ISLAMABAD, Nov 6: The carriage train operations between Islamabad and Istanbul will be restored next month.
This was decided in a meeting between Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan S. Babar Hizlan here on Wednesday.
In the hour-long meeting, it was noted that the regional economic connectivity would save considerable time in exporting goods from one country to another.
Saad Rafique said that restoration of rail link between Islamabad and Istanbul would strengthen historic bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between the two countries.
He said that Pakistan Railways had planned to upgrade Quetta-Taftan railway track for which investment from the Turkish companies would be welcomed.
He said that Pakistan would ask Turkish organisations to help upgrade academies of Pakistan Railways to impart modern training courses to its officers and staff. —APP
