Pakistan to Send Aid to Haiti

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani asked the Cabinet Division on Monday to immediately provide 3,000 tents/blankets and 8 tons of medicines to Haiti in order to help the earthquake-affected people of that country.

He gave the directive in response to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s call to the international community to assist the victims of the devastating quake.

Mr Gilani said that the relief items be handed to the representative of the UN office in Islamabad for their onward dispatch to Haiti.—APP
