Pakistan to restore, hand over 400 Hindu temples (IK Great Initiative)

Full marks to your Prime Minister for gamely trying to change the image of Pakistan.
We are not liking it because there are not many Hindus who will use these sites for worship.. These sites are only being restored for tourism purposes.. Current small hindu population can utilize few of these, which should be restored no question about it.. but restoring 400 temples which are of no use even for Hindus??

The Pakistan government wants to reclaim temples and hand them over to the Hindu community. The government has decided to reclaim and restore 400 temples to the Hindu citizens of Pakistan.

From now on, two to three such historic and heritage temple complexes will be restored by the government of Pakistan every year.
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Many temples in Pakistan were encroached or converted to madrasas
  • Pakistan will start restoration process from Sialkot's Jagannath Temple
  • 408 of 428 Hindu temples in Pakistan were converted into toy stores, schools etc after 1990
Pakistan's federal government has decided to reopen Hindu temples across the country in phases, fulfilling the longstanding demand of the minority Hindus that their places of worship be restored to them. When most Hindus left Pakistan during Partition, many temples were lost to encroachment; even in places where some Hindu families stayed back, local strongmen muscled in and occupied temple land. Many temple complexes ended up being used as a common facility and some even became madrassas.
Now the Pakistan government wants to reclaim temples and hand them over to the Hindu community. The government has decided to reclaim and restore 400 temples to the Hindu citizens of Pakistan.

I doubt it is as much for worship as it is for presenting the image of Pak as a tolerant, progressive state. And image means a lot.

Good idea.

But this may lead to a revival of Hinduism as local people begin to take pride in these buildings.
Also if there is pilgrimage, it will lead to supporting industry like making agarbattis, selling flowers, puja material. It will only confuse the people and slowly facilitate a return to more hindu rights and privileges.

. .
Hindu tourist not spend much money like western tourists as indian public is not so rich .It will not provide much benefit but will provoke hindus to capture our lands and reclaim these sites as they will refresh their memories of hindu ruling whole subcontinent before Muslims invaded this region and will strengthen their desire and need of akhand bharat doctrine again
Just wait and watch.

Once you do this you will never be able to stop it.
Hindu tourists worldwide are prosperous enough. The way Saudis funded their program in Pakistan, hindus will do the same now. The result will be similar. A rise of Hinduism. Weigh the pros and cons.

This should be for all ancient sites and not only limited to hindu temples only.when ik specifically announce for reclaiming hindu temples then it highlights agenda is not for promoting tourism but hindu ideology .it would be better he announce reclaiming all ancient historic sites without calling for specific religion
Worse. This will allow hindus here to as for a return of old monuments.
If Pakistan can return old temples why can't India. This will be the question asked.

.
Can we spend this money on living beings?

And what else do you think this is going to? It's going to fix our rich history to be highlighted, increase tourism, help our hindu brothers, and attract more investment and resources for "living beings".

Or do you want them to spoon feed the so called "living beings" now?

.
Hindus should be sent to India and every temple should be converted to a madressah or shopping mall. Period

.
This is a great initiative. It has multiple benefits and can be achieved at minimum cost/effort. This is known as a quick win.

Advantages
  • Restoration of historical sites will help increase tourism revenue. This project should be spread out to more and more sites, especially the larger more popular tourist sites.
  • The local hindu population (limited though it may be) will appreciate the effort.
  • It helps improve the soft image of Pakistan
  • At a time where the Hindu right wing in India continues to try to use Pakistan as an election tool, it undermines them. PsyOps is as equally as important in a conflict as anything else.

This is just one of many such projects. They have done the same for Sikh temples. You sound afraid of anything positive being done for religious minorities. Why is that? I personally think the focus should be by order of "attraction" for tourists - domestic and international.

This government is too much involved in religious buildings shenanigans, first sikh monument and now not one but 400 hindu temples. Are these really the issues they should be concentrating and bragging about it?

Quick wins are as important as achieving long term objectives. The economy will not be fixed in a mere 5 years, corruption will not be fixed in 5 years. Election jitne ke liye siyasatdan sab kuj kethe hain. Truth is these are long term issues, they have large amounts of resources dedicated to them, but the role of governance is not limited to them, neither is the capacity of government. This country needs positive news (for a nation of Muslims people are suprisingly negative minded), the quick wins help deliver that.

We can use the Lal Masjid and TLP buildings for that.

You might have meant this as a jab at an idiotic comment, but it's a valid point. Every corner of our country has a masjid that lays empty at night. Why are people sleeping on the streets? We have turned our masjids into mandirs. They are places of worship only. The masjid during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was the centre of the community. People gathered there to talk about community issues, teaching was done there, people rested there, children played there. Go to Masjid nabawi even today in the evening and it is full of local families.

.
It was my opinion based on my life principles, and i was referring to temples and i said their turn comes when we have surplus money!
About whom are you asking.... Living beings or temples?
Don't you read the article .
They said 4 temples per year.
Comeon we a. and not bankrupt that we cannot restore 4 temples per year.

.
One thing though the Hindu community is mostly in the Sind, Karachi etc, with small minorities in other major cities. How would they be able to maintain all the temples scattered across the country? Shouldn't they start off bit by bit?

If Pakistani Hindus cannot maintain their temples than it will not be the fault of the Pakistani government. Indian government also does not pay Indian Muslims to maintain their Mosques in India. Instead the India government ruled by Hindutva lunatics want to turn many mosques into Hindu temples. Some Hindu families can migrate from Sindh to these temples in Punjab province to care of them. Pakistan must not allow direct foreign donations and only foreign tourists can donate at the temples. India has also banned foreign donations to the Muslim charities in India.
