Pakistan to go 'soft' on Afghanistan over PAF attack

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday decided against lodging a strong protest with Afghanistan over the Badhaber attack, sources privy to the development told The Express Tribune.

“Due to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s weak writ, Pakistan’s protest with Afghanistan on Badhaber attack will be more harmful than beneficial,” said a source who attended a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Monday.

“Pakistan will only share evidences with the Afghan government and will actively pursue the case instead of lodging a protest,” the source added.

The high-level meeting was held to review the overall security situation in the country, with particular reference to the terrorist attack on Pakistan Air Force (PAF) camp in Badhaber which killed 29 people.

Army chief General Raheel Sharif, DG ISPR Asim Bajwa, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar are among ministers and officials attending the meeting.

Meanwhile, the premier is scheduled to depart for the US on September 22 to attend the UN annual General Assembly session. During his visit, the premier is expected to highlight Indian’s alleged involvement in promoting terrorism in Pakistan as well as the Kashmir issue.

The meeting also discussed border management strategy and implementation of National Action Plan on terrorism.

These attacks will keep occurring. No point going soft now. We'll have to go hard at them sooner rather than later. Indian sponsored terrorism will have to be curbed with an iron fist. Afghanistan has become a hub for Indian anti-Pakistan activity in recent years. The Indians have set-up suicide factories in Afghanistan's "consulates". Whether we like it or not, these terror consulates will have to be dislodged by force. Sooner or later we will come to this realization. Only a matter of time...

I second dalit here. We need a stronger foreign policy. Look at how turkey goes after PKK.

.
In other words ISPR was bluffing before and they have no proof
if Pakistan really wants to strengthen Mr Gani position then they can very well ask afg taliban to stop terrorism in afg

Don't worry bro. They'll eventually come to this realization. Right now they are applying a soft stance. Their patience will be tested in the longer run. Indian sponsored attacks aren't stopping any time soon.

Afghans are the most disloyal peoples on earth we should taught them a good lesson with betting reply by attacking Taliban with drones and jets inside Afghanistan to tell them who is the boss along with that expel at least 5 lakh Afghan people.

Many Indians would wish this to be true but know its not because Indian govt lacks the political will for that.

hasnt TTP already owned and released the pitures of attackers of peshawar base attack ?

what proof pakistan has that TTP did this attack on orders of India , RAW or afghanistan ?

what is the nationality of those slain attackers ?

are they hindus from india?

does pakistan has any proof of indian involvement if yes then why its not making it publick when it has leaked that this attack was planned and sponsorred by RAW and its assets in afghanistan ?

how does ashraf ghani goverment comes into focus here ?

what has to date doe about the attackers of GHQ , Minhas , Mehran and Kakul acedamy or for that matter what is the status of investigationreports done for them and what karachi airport attack or parade ground mosque attack or APS pewashawar attack or TTP raids on Bannu or other prisons ?

who was responsible for them and lapses in security appratus how many people have been prosecuted for these acts till yet ?

its very easy to put all blame on a weaker party and start war hysteria and making people run after yet another "truck ki batti" but its very difficult to fight those terrorists which were once trained and armed and support with all logistcs and used as "strategik depth"

so much for brotherlli nations and strategick depth and startegick assets :sarcastic:

You're a bunch of terrorist supporters. That's no secret.

Kick them all out and send them to their Bollywood loving India. Scum. If there is one thing worse than an Indian it is an Afghan.

Waah waah.. After a decade of terrorism on Pakistan through Afghanistan, Pak still decides to go slow on .afghanistan... What a brilliant move and strategy.. Lets wait for more similar attacks on Pak... Thts all tht this soft approach has achieved so far in a decade...

I think Gen Raheel should have different approach not for media but on the grounds lets see a shaken jelly legs of Afghan President when he reply.

While I am not one of those who wishes that the Indian government should to a tit-for-tat for Pakistan's perpetual waging of war by proxy, I do agree that many Indians do wish for that. I also agree that Pakistanis simply do not understand the difference between their regime and out government, and especially the difference between ISI and RAW. They have no idea that just because ISI has the intent, will and resources to carry out all sorts of terrorist activities, the Indian government has not similarly empowered RAW, because causing trouble against Pakistan is at the BOTTOM of the priority list for Indian politicians - the Indian public simply does not see it as an election issue and so no point doing anything about it.

What will be the cost of this realization? Hasn't Pakistan gone through enough already? We only pursue terrorists in Afghanistan after a taking a severe hit. Why can't this be done on a regular basis. What are we waiting for?

Just secure the damn border ... Bombing them wont help ... Get the support of our own people along the bordr... Seek international intervention (in terms of $) ... Train the afghans agaist their own ...
