Pakistan Suffers Worst CSS Exam Result In History As 98% Aspirants Fail

The Central Superior Services of Pakistan, better known shorthand as CSS, is hands down the most difficult competitive examination format in the country. The platform that produces the creme de la creme of Pakistan, the bureaucracy.

Every year, thousands of Superior aspirants from all over the country apply for the CSS exams in a bid to change their lives and career for good. Although, history is witness, the turnout has always been miserable as 90+% students usually fail what is known as the mother of all exams.

However, this year, the CSS Examination Result 2016, has shocked the country altogether. Over 27000 students had applied for the examination, almost 9700 students appeared for the exam and only 202 candidates cleared the written examination, their allocation now subject to an interview.

This, indeed, is the worst CSS Examination result in the history of Pakistan. Only 2.09% of the candidates who appeared were able to clear all their subjects and achieve an aggregate score of over 50%. It seems like the difficult game just got a little tougher.

Since the recent change in the subject groupings, the Federal Public Service Commission introduced a handful of new subjects, of which an aspirant had to choose one. Almost 75% students failed these new subjects, while clearing all the others. It seems every single year, the FPSC finds a new agenda to hold a candidate’s result back.
Previously, the subject which has tranquilized the majority of students had been the English Essay. However, the Essay result was better than before, but the Commission managed to bring out the worst result in history. One wonders and ponders, are the students and aspirants not capable enough to clear 1100 marks worth of subjects? That only 2% of Pakistan is diligent and learned enough to clear the exams? Or is it ipso dixit?

It seems this year, the quota system of the CSS had failed altogether. There weren’t enough seats for allocation, which has led to the huge cut-down in the result. Previously, approximately 350-450 students had always cleared the exams, of which 150-200 had been allocated via their domiciles and locals of different provinces. This year, the turnout speaks volumes about the quota.

The number of seats that are available for allocation always minus 10% for the Armed Forces of Pakistan. 6% goes to the Pakistan Army, while the Navy and Airforce share 2% each.

This year’s result has indeed broken thousands of hearts and killed millions of dreams. It is indeed a message to all CSS aspirants of Pakistan that the game has now gone up a notch and the examination demands an unearthly preparation. Haste and believing on luck will not work anymore.

Why just blame the aspirants why not these idiots who make the papers as if they are to test alien intellect and not to mention the ones who check them also have standards as high as Mount Everest. FPSC in its casual way will blame the aspirants and not take responsibilities for it's flaws. First they should make the syllabus clear, secondly there should be approved answer sheets for reference purposes. Why burden the aspirants with everything? This should be implemented in all educational institutes.........I have come across many teachers in my lifetime who bend the rules for marks according to their personal views.

This exam requires lots of cramming and memorizing useless stuff. It still judges the applicants on the 70 years old model British left us. And the worst part is that the institute churns out "Brown Sahibs" year after year. People with skills not applicable and not required by the nation anymore.

Take one look at the state of affairs in our bureaucracy and it shows a sad state affairs. Sycophancy, political appointments, inefficiency and mediocrity are the defining words there.

A very interesting comparison would be with Japan. It might surprise a lot of us that Japan had its fair share of shitty politicians and leaders as well. Japanese democracy is not as stable as its counterparts in the West even today. But the one thing that kept Japan on the right track is its highly efficient and capable bureaucracy.

Yes indeed, I passed Punjab Public Service Commissions exam of Building Inspector in S&GAD department. They ask me to speak only in English while interview. And I was like shocked, I graduated from Punjab University in Economics, belong to a poor family where there is no one who can speak even urdu. I was the first Graduate of my family. Why I have to speak in English, is English the only way to conduct an interview is English the only way to judge someone is English the only way to sea which qualities someone possesses . And they told me no Urdu please. Its pathetic, these bureaucrats dont want merit they only want money. My boss's friend gave 13 lac for clearing the interview and he is know a 17th grade officer. fck these rishwat khor bastards.

Well said! They don't care about creativity or skills at all. You should only write what they are expecting and should only do what the old "Baba's" sitting at high posts expect of you. You know i am surprised that despite having such "extreme standards" Pakistan's civil services still suck, actually it's not just limited to civil services every department in this country is under-performing.

This was the toughest CSS exam ever. Even syllabus was of 150 pages alone, while previous was of 37 pages long, 100 marks Business Administration contained 7 subjects from all major fields.

passing the exam is not the only thing, they bluff you in interview.

Tell me about it. Sometimes they don't even consider you eligible for an exam, even though they have no credible grounds to deny your entry.

This was the toughest CSS exam ever. Even syllabus was of 150 pages alone, while previous was of 37 pages long, 100 marks Business Administration contained 7 subjects from all major fields.

That's because they don't need "civil servants" they require a scientist, doctor, mathematician, physicist, historian, Islamic scholar, professor and an analyst in one person.........And with all such expectations one would wonder "wow Pakistan must be one hell of a progressive country in the world" and then there is reality which depicts where Pakistan's bureaucracy actually stands . BTW i bet out of those 150 pages syllabus they gave a lot out of context because i know that FPSC has a habit of doing this.
