Pakistan seeks $3 bn oil on deferred payment from UAE

“We have requested to UAE for providing similar oil facility on deferred payment as being finalised by KSA as currently payment is made on consignment basis after a month but now under the proposed mechanism the payment will be made after 365 days,” top officials of PTI government disclosed to The News here on Saturday.

If it materializes, it is likely that Govt of Pakistan will be able to reduce the prices of Petrol and Diesel further. This will provide a big boost for the economy.

This is another potential catastrophe. Gas Prices cannot go down. Infact it has to be kept up so money can be paid. And if all news are correct and SAudis and UAE's provide this facility, Pakistan has to pay 6B at nearly the same time in 2021. In addition to CPEC payments and assistance from other nations. And all this in expectations the growth will go up.
Pakistani people has hard time coming up in rising prices and taxes.

And these part short term measures arent even solutions.

all these games to avoid the IMF and revealing CPEC details ... i hope it is worth the hassle and trouble

A National Audit of oil consumption should be done to find who uses so much oil and what can be done to reduce consumption through efficiency and reducing non-essential consumption. The government can keep borrowing to pay for fuel, it will bankrupt the development plans in the long run.

so after the 365 days period - you would have to pay for the oil from the past year and the current year? or is the 365 day deferred payment a permanent fixture?

Sir & who will pay later???? its deferred payment not free meaning you have to pay later in installments.

If you want to reduce oil import bill then produce surplus and cheap electricity (5~7 Mega Dams).

It will also help in reducing other related imported e.g. IPP, Gen & Inverter etc.
Surplus & cheap electricity will also create market potential for electric city car.
