Nullah Dek enters Pakistan's territory from India in Tehsil Zafarwal, in Narowal district, some 125-km from Lahore.
LAHORE: An India-made anti-tank mine was recovered from Nullah Dek near Kartarpur corridor in Pakistan's Punjab province, an official said Wednesday.

According to District Civil Defence Officer (Narowal) Muhammad Asim Wahla, labourers digging out sand from the Nullah Dek found the 14-pound anti-tank mine on Tuesday and informed police about it.

Police reached the spot and called the bomb disposal squad of the civil defence that defused the mine.

Nullah Dek enters Pakistan's territory from India in Tehsil Zafarwal, in Narowal district, some 125-km from Lahore.


The official said the anti-tank mine was made in India and such mines are sometimes found in the Dek after being pushed by the strong water currents of the Nullah from Indian side.

NAROWAL: The bomb disposal squad of the civil defence department on Tuesday defused an India-made anti-tank mine recovered from Nullah Dek in Zafarwal area.

According to District Civil Defence Officer Muhammad Asim Wahla, labourers digging out sand from the Nullah Dek found the 14-pound anti-tank mine (ATM) and informed Zafarwal police about the find which they took in their custody.

He said the police called the civil defence’s bomb disposal squad (BDS) that defused the ATM that was made in India.

The labourers, Akmal and Rafaqat Ali, who found the ATM said that such mines were sometimes found in the Dek after being pushed by the strong water currents of the nullah from Indian side.

Anti-tank mine buried underneath an AP mine has been used in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Normal AP mine maims not kills, put it on top of AT mine and have large explosion to kill multiple people.
Tactic used by insurgents, not militaries.

The trigger could still work but the danger is to civilians who may set it off as a curiosity.

My theory is that isn’t some sinister plot and more some careless sapper who may have dropped the mind during transport over the river and then plausibility through currents or other natural forces made its way here.

I thought the pressure plate needed quite a bit of load to set it off, the member above actually made a sensible remark about booby traps with AP mine and AT mine combo.
To me, it seemed like an old mine that came through the bank erosion, but I am just speculating.
