Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Wednesday agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in the fields of information and culture, said Radio Pakistan.

The understanding came during a meeting between Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Saudi Minister for Media Turki bin Abdullah A Shabana in Islamabad.

Speaking on the occasion Foreign Minister Qureshi said: “Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have long maintained historical and cultural relations, and Pakistan gives high value to its ties with the Kingdom.”

He said, “Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have unanimity of views on important regional and global issues.”

“Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s visit to Pakistan has further strengthened the relationship between the two countries,” Qureshi added.

The foreign minister termed the establishment of Pak-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council an important step toward promotion of political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Qureshi also thanked Saudi Arabia for increasing Hajj quota for Pakistan to 200,000.

The rise in quota from 184,210 came on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s request to Crown Prince Salman during his February visit to Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia also included Pakistan in its “Road to Makkah” project, which would allow pilgrims to undergo immigration clearance at Pakistani airports before leaving for Hajj.

If we can be cordial to both sides Iran and Saudi I am all for it
We cannot be cordial with bith sides. Its like asking a country to have good relations with both Pakistan and india.
We have strong military ties with saudi arabia and thats enough to deter iran. Though Pakistan at times have tried having good relations with iran but they do not respond in same way.
Iran cannot be trusted either so its better we keep good relations with saudi and GCC.

In realistic sense Pak does have a tilt towards the GCC and Saudi but Pak since 2015 has managed to put cordiality so its policy which is a good sign

All soundbites... nothing concrete...

Pak needs to make up its mind... can we have a foreign / economic policy which is in Our National Interests?

Or we gonna remain in this goody-goody SMQ smileys mode?

Appeasment never works.

Independent Nations act independently....

Pak has to make a Choice.

Either become a middle income country or remain hostage.

When ships sail..they sail away!

We should play all sides and maximize benefit for us not just arms deals or trade deficits

For that Iran must stop sponsoring terrorism inside Pakistan.

As if Saudi is any better with treating Pak a chess board for their petty yet bloody fights with Iran, anyways all I am saying Pak should maximize benefit of playing both sides rather than being a chessboard

Of both Iran and Saudi

Why the **** we need to drag Iran in every fucking matter when it comes to our relationship with the Saudis. Saudis economic help to us drawf anything over the decades. Just can't ignore it or balance out with any other country. The remittance only coming from Saudia Arab keeps our fragile economy a float.

Iran sent us kulbhushan so I am not all for it. We should probably bomb iranian border areas as well.

Probably cause the region to go in flames and causing a Balochi revolt and give a excuse for the BLA it's no wonder why the PAF is smart in not inflaming tensions as for Kulbashan that's the responsibility of credible intelligence and diplomatic agencies to deal with

The thing is no one is advocating for ditching Saudi no one is denying the economic help Saudi gives Pakistan but seriously do we have to be bootlickers of them no same with other countries like China,Turkey, Qatar,Iran and the US

Ah my very dear YoungPak,

In order to be what you recommend we need brains which are actually used!

The Rise of
#Khottaism with gratifying #Khottacracy has hollowed us out. East Africa and GCC... think!!!

What are Our National Interests?

Mangus

Mangus bhai,as long as Pak views itself as a chessboard for superpowers and regional powers we will not see a drastic shift in domestic and foreign policy

Why don't they expand relations in the energy sector since that's what rest of rhe world is doing except Pakistan.

Give contracts to the OGDC to drill in Saudi Arabia instead of cultural and brotherhood lectures as usual.

Who the hell is boot licking them. Are u OK? Its a vogue in Pakistan to criticise Saudis now. Tell me first how are we boot looking them... Spare to post few such policies of us in the last few years or so?

Barking a opinion is one thing I mean folks here complain about every small thing here at the end of the day the policy makers decide on their own accord cause the public well dont really care in keeping their govt accountable

I agree Pakistanis need to get rid of this so called brotherhood mentality with all types of nations it's getting stale now

P. S. When you are getting so many economic luxuries from a country over the years than you are bound to bend your foreign policies in favor of that country. This is how things work. Every country does that. Either become economically independent first or just shut the **** up and play your cards smarter.
