Pakistan Railways to lease 50 rail engines from India

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has decided to lease 50 railway engines from India to restart some defunct services, a media report said Sunday.

The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by Railway Minister Ghulam Ahmed Bilour in Peshawar earlier this week, the Urdu daily Jang reported.

The option of leasing the engines was among the options, and found favour as India had already expressed its willingness to consider the lease of the engines.

Addressing the meet, Bilour said the railways needs 200 to 300 locomotives to improve its performance.

He said some financial assistance is likely to be received soon, and this money would be used to buy new locomotives as well as for repairing existing ones.

vvvvvvvvv nice step hope we see the progress soon i hope we will have good relations wid india like China in future

.
look at us and china . we are wary of them but still do business with them . and that is one of the reasons why we try to avoid a conflict with them . the more our trade with Pakistan flourishes , the better it will be .

.
Somehow I doubt whether business relationship akin to that the Chinese enjoy in India can be replicated as far as Pakistan is concerned. They tend to mix emotion with business which is a deterrent for any major industrial enterprise between our nations.

For that people of have to forgo hate and envy, I'm not talking about people of Baluchistan, Muhajirs or even sindh.

Come with open mind and make a fresh start, stop anti India activities we can be good neighbors if not friends.

You are right but there has to a beginning its upto the people of pakistan when they realize it today of 10 years later.

They can't fight with us, they can't stop our progress best way to join us and get developed.

:tdown:Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour:tdown: one of them whose sincerity dedicated for anti-Pakistan forces, he was the one who said while leaving for India "Who want to talk about Kalabagh dam should come and talk about partition of Pakistan first". More over this is no more secret that ANP (Former NAP) received in past more than 90 million Rs from India ONLY TO OPPOSE Kalabagh dam. These goons and morons have nothing to do with progress of Pakistan but only kissing India. We still don't know what promises have done by this idiot in his last visit to India.

We should expand our hand toward Russian federation for railway development to accumulate our efforts for future.

Read actual situation of PR under this stupid minister.

During his time as Railway minister, The Pakistan Railways seems to be speeding on a downward track, with the deficit now touching the Rs30 billion mark. The company which provides transportation services to over 85 million passengers is on the verge of bankruptcy. Analysts have claimed the authority is losing more than Rs3 million every hour. They said Pakistan Railway’s share in transporting goods across the country has fallen to just four percent.

Oh yes promis of ruining PR has done.

Going by the debate about MFN status and then again regarding a free trade agreement in South Asia , there seems to still be a tendency among Pakistanis that India is an adversary , therefore limit all economic involvement with it.

Many of the arguments of well informed members were ostensibly about "protectionism" though several made no bones about directly declaring India to be an enemy hence trade with India should be minimum.

Its not India 's call now , its Pakistan's. India does not frown upon closer economic co-operation. Its on the Pakistani foreign policy thinktanks and even more vitally, the men on the street--to delink economics from "geo-strategic" adversity.

The business people in Pakistan actually want better economic ties with India but it is the politicians who are getting in the way.

.
^^^agreed, i personally dont care who PR buys its engines from but i want to see it in business and profitable, that goes for PIA and Steel Mills too

The whole Railways operations should be given to Chinese firm to modernise the Pakistan Railways based on modern standards

Who will pay for money and why Chinese company will be interested , only because you are their damm good friends ...... common just because you hate India .. you are ready to let die one of the main pillar of Pakistan's infra..

.
Trade with India must be on equal terms, if Pakistan buy 4billion$ goods from India than it must make sure that it exports 4-5billion$ goods to India, otherwise there is no need for trade with India.

In the case, no nations in the world would deal with China.
