Suspected Islamic militants in north-western Pakistan have beheaded two women they accused of being prostitutes, police say.

The bodies of the two women were found by villagers on the outskirts of the city of Bannu.

A note found on the bodies accused the women of "acts of obscenity", a term that usually refers to prostitution.

This is supposed to be Pakistani territory, if the authorities can't establish control over it then they might aswell give it to the taliban and install mullah omar as the Caliph of Waziristan.

The Pakistani govt should be ashamed of themselves.

YEa a true shame and disgrace in the name of ISLAM. All this happening in the times of current regime which is loved by so many on this forum! PRostitution is probably one of the oldest occupations and wont o away by behedaing!

I remember seeing a poster by some fanatics protesting in UK it said " BEHEAD THOSE WHO SAY ISLAM IS VIOLENT".

Karpov,

It's a little disingenuous to suggest that the current regime is responsible for the situation in FATA. FATA has enjoyed an autonomous status, ungoverned by Islamabad, of their choosing. If they want to join the mainstream they will probably be welcomed, but any interference in their affairs has always been met with hostility. Even the current military presence, a result of terrorism, is being met with hostility. The people of FATA have to make the decision to join the political process.

There is one hospital bed for every 2,179 people in the FATA, compared to one in 1,341 in Pakistan as a whole. There is one doctor for every 7,670 people whereas there is one doctor per 1,226 people in whole Pakistan.Only 43% of FATA citizens have access to clean drinking water.

The Federally Administered Tribal Areas literacy rate is 17.42%, which is below the 43.92% average in Pakistan. 29.51% of the males and only 3% of females receive education.

But do not blame the pak govt....blame the taliban...

I think both are to blame tbh. The govt and the militants. Alot of the tribal leaders resist change and education as this will make the people think, thinking is dangerous..

The govt has the power and the money, they really need to sort their act out.

Absolutely horrible conditions I agree.

So do the Tribals want to start paying taxes, paying for the electricity they get for free, accept the constitution of Pakistan? You cannot just completely refuse to accept the constitution and pay taxes, and then expect the government to use the money from other tax payers to massively invest in the area. I don't mind my taxes going over there, but I expect that in return the people will accept the laws of the land and make an effort to become productive members of society that have a stake in the country.

The people of FATA need to decide whether they want to join the settled areas.

First of all who the hell do you think you are sitting in uk commenting on the pakistani government like this. Let me state this for all you people who are sitiing abroad with zero ground based reality, sit on the internet with a cup of coffee and start ranting about pakistan, the pakistani government and military. What you need to understand is that the government does not have some magic in its hand that would change the whole area within nite and all of the problems will just vanish. It takes time to counter these things what we are facing currently. The whole baluchistan and FATA is an area with extremely difficult situation that you people sitting abroad cannot and will not understand. Just to bomb the area or do a military opperation will not solve anything, a more realistic approach is required which though i agree our governments in the past have failed to adopt.

I can comment on whatever situation I like, it's called free speech. Being of Pakistani ethnicity I do feel ties to Pakistan, also my grandparents were in Pak Armed forces and I have a fondess for militaries.. (reasons for being on defence.pk forums)

Secondly I have been to Pakistan recently, so I think I know some stuff..

The first role of any government is to provide safety for it's people, there's a severe problem in the NWFP areas.

I haven't seem the Pak govt comment on this or past incidents, as far as im aware the govt controls the elictricity and water supply for these areas. So they certainly have leverage...

If you could provide me with some examples of what the Pak govt is doing to solve this problem, then that would be great.

What do you expect the pakistani government to do, bomb the area to stone age, well its already in stone age so more bombing will just make more enemies and nothing fruitfull will come out of it, instead it will turn the people who are now in favour of pakistan against them.
Secondly what has the past government done, that you seem to critize only this government. Now i am not the greatest fan of this government but to blame everything on it is not justified.
Have we not learnt anything thing from 71, what did the military operation helped rather turning a common bangladeshi against the army and pakistan, do you want that to happen again.
Cutting the electricity and water is not an option, rather a more realistic approach is required, like better education, better food and water, better jobs, this will help not just bombs. When the people there will have food to eat, clothes to wear, money to send there children to school, do you think that they will have the time for all of this **** currently going on. NO.
As for you saying what has government done to improve the situation, people over there mostly the elders are against the development in the area and nothanks to our opposition who only know one thing how to destabilize the ruling government whoever it may be, political or military.
Gawadar port, construction of coastal highway, Airport development are a few of the projects to be named and if the situation is favourable and the oppostion stops its dirty politics, much better can be done.
Besides why do you forget about afghanistan, the current situation in afghanistan has a severe drawback upon pakistan, indian sponsered terrorists are being sent into pakistan to destabilize it and make it look like taliban are behind it. Look at the recent killing of the chinese, Raw and CIA was behind it and not the tailbans.

The way in which the pak govt was handling things was very good until the US realized that this would cauce no problem between the tribals and the army, they then forced mushy to be more aggressive knowing full well the outcome of such actions would lead to suicide bombings and destablization of pakistan.
Only a fool who is absolutely brainwashed by the media would accept anything else.
The sorry thing is that so called pakistans agree and welcome the killing of our people knowing that the blow back will cripple pakistan.........patriots or traitors.
I agree with your point about pakistani people in england/US are to willing to go along bombing these areas knowing that nothing can happen to them.
I live in england but i am aware of what the west is trying to do.......break the right arm of pakistan, create civil war, polarization of the people along religious ethnic lines ect ect.
How i would love to see these guys (brainwashed baffons) on the frontline and then see how eager they where to fight the tribals.:pakistan: :pakistan:

What rubbish, have you been to the tribal areas that you know that they do not pay there bills....another piece of classic brainwashing that you have fallen for again.

=dabong1;98379]There is one hospital bed for every 2,179 people in the FATA, compared to one in 1,341 in Pakistan as a whole.

IF they don't kill people that are there to help them this might change.feds are not to be blamed for peoples personal Acts.

There is one doctor for every 7,670 people whereas there is one doctor per 1,226 people in whole Pakistan.Only 43% of FATA citizens have access to clean drinking water.
They don't want feds to interfere in there day to day business.but you want the Pakistan government providing them with all the necessities.they use power from wapda but don't pay any bills

The Federally Administered Tribal Areas literacy rate is 17.42%, which is below the 43.92% average in Pakistan. 29.51% of the males and only 3% of females receive education.

So they don't go to school and don't send there women to school thats Pakistan governments fault.

But do not blame the pak govt....blame the taliban.
Exactly

7. The financial performance of the large public enterprises1 for the quarter of July–September 2002 was broadly in line with the targets formulated under their respective FIPs, except for WAPDA. WAPDA defaulted on its entire payment obligations of PRs 7.2 billion to the government (debt service and hydel profits) for the quarter, reflecting substantial shortfalls in cash receipts (of PRs 5.4 billion). Supplier arrears were reduced somewhat more than expected. According to WAPDA's accounts, the shortfall in receipts reflects in the main: the nonpayment of bills by customers in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA); unchanged technical/nontechnical line losses rather than the programmed improvement; shortfalls resulting from the lower-than-expected structural tariff increase effected in August; and an increase in receivables.

Instead of telling others that they are brain washed my be its time for one to look at him selfs and realize where the problem lies.
