ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has handed over to India a "new set of proposals" aimed at resuming the stalled bilateral dialogue and gradually addressing all longstanding issues, a media report said on Friday.

The proposals were handed over to the Indian side on Thursday by Tariq Fatemi, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs, The Express Tribune daily reported.

The proposals were included in a letter from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inviting his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh to Pakistan. The letter contained a roadmap for reviving the stalled peace process between the two sides, the daily quoted its sources as saying.

Fatemi was part of a delegation led by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the premier's younger brother, that travelled to Delhi and India's Punjab state this week.

Under the roadmap, Pakistan has proposed arranging a meeting between the National Security Advisors (NSAs) of the two sides to iron out differences over resuming the composite dialogue.

During a meeting with the Indian envoy here on Wednesday, Prime Minister Sharif had proposed that there should be a institutionalised mechanism for meetings between the NSAs to discuss terrorism and allay concerns of both sides.

In the letter, Prime Minister Sharif said his government was willing to go "the extra mile" to improve ties with India, the Tribune reported. He suggested that issues like Sir Creek and Siachen should be settled through "backdoor diplomacy".

An unnamed Foreign Ministry official was quoted by the daily as saying that these issues could be resolved if both countries showed political will. The official further claimed the resolution of Sir Creek and Siachen issues could pave the way for addressing the longstanding Kashmir problem.

Singh got the formal invitation from Sharif for visiting Pakistan on Thursday and it was accepted. Pakistani leaders have been inviting Singh to the country for the past few years but the Indian leader has said his visit would depend on the situation on the ground in terms of terrorism and the Line of Control.

The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi said Sharif's message of goodwill emphasized the country's "desire to forge friendly and cooperative relations with India in the interest of peace and prosperity...of the region".

Why they always wanted to pretend to talk with India? everyone came wanted to talk with india (pretended to be). Why PAK leaders need india's approval for making their International debut?

.
Why is Pakistan proposing new road-maps one after the other when India doesn't want to talk unless Pakistan changes its position on Kashmir.

Whats wrong with NS ???
He should just sit and wait till next government. No govt will take policy decision in last few months !!!

Or is he willing to do that before next govt

I still don't understand what will we get having good relations with India?

More economic relations means Pakistan becoming like Bangldesh.Which is again not in interest of Pakistan.

I agree with your points... Tick- Talk is just useless ... You should stay at your home , We will stay at our side...If anyone is breaking this rule ...JUST WELCOME HIM/HER WITH BULLET.

I no longer care for NS roadmap. We did came via road to Lahore once. We got Kargil.

NS can't control Pakistan and Army is parallel govt. which can oust him anytime.

Their is lot reasons behind his effort to resume dialogue with India and Pakistan.Confrontation ,tension and arms race with India already bleeding pakistan economy severly .Pakistan cant move toward for last 66 years only due this reason .So according to him if there is a solution developed between India and Pakistan .That will considerably reduce the military budget of pakistan and can use it for development of country.
Second reason if the problem is resolved with India ,then influence wielded by pak army and intelligence services will considerably reduces. So they cant question democratic goverment and NS become all powerful and popular leader in pakistan.
India is not interested a dialogue that question its territorial integrity .India is already a stable democracy and has established institutions. So tensions with pakistan is not a little problem for Indian economy.I dont think a solution will developed due to certain factors

Just confused who should India talk actually........
Is it GoP or Army or ISI or the so called non state actor's.......

What's point in talking with NS when we know he had no control over the Army or the so called non state actors running their operations out of Pakistan.

Actually , Taliban run the Pakistan

Let them have a proper democracy for 10 years more before we start talking with them.

Atleast we know by then whether Military controls half their foreign policy or not. And whether their military even listens to their Govt.

Else it would turn out that the Civilian govt is talking peace while their brilliant military is trying to enter another area in India.
