Our jute mills were nationalized immediately after 1971 and were put under the managerial control of Awami League cronies. The result is inefficiency, little work and stealing by all. Govt has been susidizing the losses for the last 50 years.

Only this year, govt has stopped the operation of these mills and probably wants to sell them to private ownership. If it really happens, the BD raw jute and products can virtually supply this non-pollutant jute products to almost the entire world. Indian or Thai quality is no match to ours.
