Pakistan is buying coal from Afghanistan and also enabling its own reserves.. the power produced with coal is one of the cheapest and would save us on revenue.The LNG deal commissions got the best of us.
I dont know why they didnt think about this way in 2016 anyways dair ayed drust ayed but what will happen to already build lng plants all wasted?Pakistan is buying coal from Afghanistan and also enabling its own reserves.. the power produced with coal is one of the cheapest and would save us on revenue.The LNG deal commissions got the best of us.
Nasty contracts of IPP sign by PMLN and PPP . You have to pay billions of rupee if you generate or not or utilize or not ...
that is soo wrong with pakistanNasty contracts of IPP sign by PMLN and PPP . You have to pay billions of rupee if you generate or not or utilize or not ...
We need a plan to buy and do a ToT to build plant like this one in the UAE
2400 MW ($3.4 Billion)
We should at least get 40% of our electricity from local coal and should be able to build the plants in our own country so our full electricity supply cycle is local.
Afterwards we can work on boosting domestic agricultural modernization to world level and making it indigenous as possible as well as all the tech to manage our water supply (and treatment plants) indigenously.
Domestic control of energy, food and water are the basics for independence from external shocks. If we can keep our costs down in these three areas we can then spend excess money on reinvesting in our industries to grow the economy.
Having these three things under control will also bring investors that want stability and reliability of supplies and resources
Well because building coal plants gets no foreign fundingPakistan is buying coal from Afghanistan and also enabling its own reserves.. the power produced with coal is one of the cheapest and would save us on revenue.The LNG deal commissions got the best of us.
Why?This news of quadrupling coal production (currently 10% of our needs to 40% of our needs) has really made my day.

We also need to build up the grid so we don’t have to ship the coal to plants all over the country.

Even if we have corrupt people, as long as they don’t kill the golden goose and keep electricity and food prices low and allow a level field for FDI to come in and exports to grow, we can still manage. We will always have corrupt people, but there needs to be limits on what they can touch and divert. It I agree, Subsidies to unproductive enterprises need to end. Money should go to what will make us money for the long term, education and better healthcare and cheap electricity.We need to this. We need to do that.
Right now Pakistan needs to survive default and get rid of fuedal elites.
Pakistan will never ever have any investors as long as corrupt stooges are running around. The world isn't crazy and doesn't trust bandits. Even the staunchest ally China has backed off.
I think this thread is just talk because election is 6 months away so nothing will be build and imran khan was already working on hydro dams.Well because building coal plants gets no foreign funding
With LNG Plants you can easily get loans
Hence why we do opted for LNG
Thoar coal was discourage simply because PMLN wanted power plants in Punjab not Sindh near that..
The argument was lack of power supply line which would have cost 1b$ so we opted to spend 10s of billions in transport and expensive foreign coal
Why?
You have unlimited hydro, coal, wind and solar opportunity
Why do you want to invent the wheal?
Problem in Pakistan isn't lack of resources that's a problem in Japan and bengaldesh
Problem "khata hey tu lagata be hey"
From my observation the current generation successful been taught this Nara so misery will continue
Hydro opportunities easily built as green funding is easy=60,000 mw
Solar= unlimited
Nuclear= unlimited as long as we debt finance it since China wants to offer
Coal= unlimited that coal
Wind= easily 60k mw
Problem= kahata hey tu lagata be hey
Hence why three dams got started and stopped in last 4 years
And none during last 40 years(except mangla and brotha in mushi era)
fir na hi samjhain?Coal brings smog and that’s already an issue.
That’s why you want to build the most modern coal fired plants, like the one just build in the UAE. If Pakistan has cheaper (base load) electricity it can not only have the electricity but the money saved to put towards water treatment plants, pharmaceutical plants, modern agricultural equipment and food storage and other ways to improve people’s lives. Building them on the coast, away from most population will decrease the number of people exposed as well, if we build a modern energy grid.Coal brings smog and that’s already an issue.
