South Korea’s firm Hanwha Corporation has reportedly exported a towed howitzer and grenade launchers to Pakistan early this year, Pakistan Exim Trade Info’s database shows.

Pakistan Army’s Inspectorate of Armaments imported a single KH179 155 mm towed howitzer and two 40 mm auto grenade launchers (AGL) from Hanwha in January, in addition to 155mm rounds from another South Korean firm Poongsan Corporation in March of this year, Quwa reported citing the database.

Considering the small quantities acquired, the Pakistan Army is likely to be testing these weapons. However, it is not known if there are active bids for towed howitzers and/or AGLs, the report says.

The KH179 is a 155mm/39-calibre towed howitzer. Weighing 6,890 kg, the KH179 can fire a sustained two rounds per minute (up to four per minute at maximum). With standard shells, it has a range of 30 km.

The Pakistan Army has been seeking a wheeled self-propelled howitzer (SPH) since as early as at least 2008 when it procured two SH-1 howitzers from China for evaluation purposes.

According to iHS Jane’s report in June last year, it projected that Pakistan could spend $12 billion U.S. on big-ticket weapon systems in the period of 2016 to 2024. The report said possible “opportunities exist for a self-propelled mortar, an armoured personnel carriers (APC) and a self-propelled howitzer (SPH)” at values of $1.5 billion, $1.1 billion and $844 million, respectively.

The 155 mm KH179 howitzer is a conversion of the US M114A1 howitzer [of which Pakistan has 144] and carriage to mount a new 155 mm 39 calibre barrel. Certain other parts of the carriage have been altered to suit the new barrel and newfire-controi equipment has been fitted. The KH179 is light enough to be airlifted by a Boeing Vertol CH-47C/D helicopter and can also be carried inside a Lockheed Martin C-130 transport aircraft.
The KH179 can fire existing NATO 155 mm ammunition and can also accommodate enhanced performance ammunition such as the elongated Extended Range Full-Bore (ERFB) projectiles. Range with Rocket-Assisted Projectile (RAP) is stated to be 30,000 m and for normal HE projectiles the range is 22,000 m. Maximum rate of fire is 4 rds/min, this dropping to 2 rds/min for sustained fire.

Very old model, looks like so far all the test done on different systems PA is not satisfied.

Yes it's very old model from 1982.
The Iranian DIO has produced a very similar weapon to the K179 howitzer called the HM41. Details are of this are given earlier in a separate entry. There are no known exports of the Iranian HM41. Illustrations of the Iranian 155 mm HM41 howitzer are identical to those of the KH179. There are no known exports of the 155 mm KH179 howitzer.

. . .
What happened to the AGL from the local company Daud sons armory which they designed and made for the armed forces.

. . . . . .
Panter can fire at 6 rounds per minute and this one 2 rounds per minute. What is the justification for this Korean howitzer then
