RESUMPTION of dialogue on any level between Pakistan and India is always threatened by elements who wish to torpedo the peace process and keep tensions high.

Unfortunately, ever since the BJP took power in Delhi in 2014, aversion to dialogue on the Indian side has been very clear.

On Tuesday, there was some positive movement when Pakistan said talks on the Kartarpur Corridor would resume on July 14.

However, the martyrdom of five Pakistani soldiers along the LoC yesterday once again proves the presence of elements in the Indian establishment who wish to scuttle chances of peace.

According to the military authorities, the incident, which took place in AJK’s Chamb sector, is evidence of “state-sponsored terrorism by India. ...”

Clearly, if there is to be peace in the subcontinent, incidents such as those targeting Pakistani troops and civilians must stop.

Coming back to Kartarpur, there has been much stalling from Delhi’s side to the project that would provide visa-free access to Sikh pilgrims from India to a revered gurdwara in Pakistani territory.

India had cancelled the meeting scheduled for April 2, presumably because the BJP was looking to project an anti-Pakistan image ahead of the Indian general election.

Now with Narendra Modi’s party firmly ensconced in power, perhaps the Indian government has decided that it can once again re-engage with Pakistan.

However, the Indians have also said the Kartarpur issue should not be viewed as a renewal of dialogue with Pakistan.

The fact is, while Pakistan has gone the extra mile to open channels for peace, the Indian side has shown an arrogant indifference to resuming bilateral talks.

While there are a few glimmers of hope now and then — chance meetings abroad between officials of the two countries or the exchange of pleasantries — these are offset by negative developments, such as the recent violence perpetrated by India along the LoC.

These incidents and mixed messages raise questions about India’s desire for peace.

Is the BJP so beholden to the zealous ideology of the RSS — its ideological parent — that it is unable to rise above narrow populism and display statesmanship when it comes to talking to Pakistan?

Yes, there are irritants like militant groups and Hindu hardliners in India who don’t want peace between the two states.

But for the future of over one billion people of the subcontinent, more effort is needed, particularly from Delhi’s side, if the goal is to revive the peace process.

being a civilized nation we should always try for peace and wish Indians will also learn it through peace as we dont want Feb 27 happens every now and then nor we wish to humiliate India on world stage.

there are so many benefits of peace which indians need to learn.

Totally agree with you; but it is close to impossible, under the current circumstances. Hence the post, to which you have responded.

Peace with India would be amazing. That would give us chance to smash Afghanistan and get Iran in line.

Allowing bhartis on this forum is an effort to create somewhat peace and solve misunderstandings but all they want to do is chronic trolling and hate mongering. This is not the way to make peace with such people, FEB 27 was the first step of peace with india.

I don't think India wants peace... That is blunder on our side to think like that.. Just go ahead, and try to disintegrate India, thats the only solution.

.
Pakistan has gone out of the way to support Kashmiri terrorists and make peace with India, however, India has always turned down such peace gestures.

I hope India will assist Pakistan in proving India's involvement in all terrorism takin place in Pakistan.

You guys missed the boat to have a peace with India when Manmohan Singh was PM for PM...In current situation, India is fine with status quo...There is no advantage for India to be flexible with Pakistan...You guys can name it whatever you want...But i do not see any value add to talk about useless things like Karyarpur corridor and other things with Pakistan...

Does thief willingly will give you the loot back, which world one is living in? They have stolen the Kashmir from us and they want to keep it simple is that. Terrorism, water theft, cutting links and rest of the dramas are just pressure tactics on us and the show for the rest of the world to justify the Kashmir occupation. Either Pakistan improves their economy to afford the war or live in this constant state of war for ever. Alternative is to accept the Kashmir as it is and give up on Kashmiri people rights and live subservient to Indian hegemony. Choices are stark for Pakistan.
Best Pakistan can do is shoot all the corrupt politician's so no one dares damages the Pakistan internally again. Sending them to the prison for few days or years is like picnic for these politicians and they come out of the prison with the smiles and V signs and rose petals and still manages to keep the black money and seats in the national assembly. We as a nation simply accept these SOB's either curse or little gods depending on which side of the divide one is on.
Our constant war of survival since Pakistan is created is akin to the cold war where US succeeded due to the size of her economy and alliances with other countries while USSR collapsed due to small and stagnated economy.
IK need to question himself planting trees may be a noble idea and good for the environment but since he have been in the power how many industrial units he have opened. Without exports how our economy is meant to improve and corruption alone is not the only root cause which leads to the doors of IMF. Pakistan needs to set up industries on the war footing to get out of balance of payments curse instead of blaming the past.
Pakistan needs to improve the education, economy, industrialization to afford to defend ourselves. Peace can only be imposed if one is powerful enough or negotiated on the negotiating table. Pakistan is not strong enough to impose and India is never going to come on the negotiating table as biggest thug on the planet the US is in the Indian court. Peace gestures are not the need of the hour making economy a success definitely is.
