ISLAMABAD: Chabahar Free Industrial Trade Zone Organisation (CFITZO) chief Abdolrahim Kordi has said that Rimdan Marketplace will connect Iran with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Talking to an Iranian news agency on Saturday, Abdolrahim Kordi reiterated that Rimdan Border Marketplace in Dashriari city will connect Iran with the economic corridor of China and Pakistan and play a leading role in developing and promoting bilateral trade ties.
“Not only will Rimdan Border Marketplace provide suitable grounds for Iranian traders and producers to get access to Pakistan market, but it will also create a connection link to the joint economic corridor of Pakistan and China,” he opined.
After five years of continuous activity as well as approval and implementation of development of this area, suitable grounds have now been provided for activity in this free zone, the CEO said.
Emphasising the significance of Rimdan Border Marketplace as a free zone separate from Chabahar, Kordi stated, “Launching Chabahar-Gwadar railway through Rimdan Border is a need and for this purpose, land area as large as 130ha was allocated for construction of the first phase of this project.”
By the completion of national steel and petrochemical projects, Chabahar will be turned into an industrial and economic hub in the country, CEO Kordi added.
A few days ago, deputy of Sistan and Baluchestan Governor Abouzar Kosari in his meeting with the newly-appointed consul general of Pakistan in Zahedan, said that Iran-Pakistan cooperation has doubled with the reopening of the Rimdan border.
Referring to the importance of relations between the two countries, Abouzar Kosari said that with the reopening of the Rimdan border, economic and cultural growth can be witnessed, because Iran and Pakistan have long-standing historical, economic, and cultural relations.
The consul general expressed hope that with the reopening of the Rimdan border, the two countries will see the growth and development of relations more.

I am so happy for this agreement better late than never.
Remember when senior Bush administration was in power back in those days they prevented Iran Pakistan ANY economic development by creating chaos all around their borders. May Allah bless the two nations into future economic stability.

It will be interesting to see how CPEC and IP pipeline evolve under future close cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.

If Imran Khan is worth anything, he will sign some kind of deal to get enourmous discounts on oil from Iran in exchange for switching oil supply from Saudis exclusively to Iran. Then Pakistan will free up a lot of cash from oil to spend on other things and strengthen economic situation.

Do you think Riyadh will sit there and do nothing? Remember how many Pakistanis are living in KSA right now?

Frankly, i would like to see local trading zone; here we have SADCC; it really has transformed entire trade and flow of materials across neighbouring countries - Namibia, South Africa, Mozambique, Zim, Zambia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Malawi, Tanzania and islands.

Uplifting people out of poverty is key for radical transformation of all countries to take their respective place in this world.

Also to combat dumping by China and other countries. Trade internally is key right now and break this dumping cycle that has crippled all local industries. Finally here they have realised starting from textiles to bring it over to swaziand and malawi; our entire textile industry got decimated by the Chinese. Finally levies up to 50% are now in play if not produced within SADCC common custom region

What are they gonna do? Expel all Pakistanis working in Saudi? Great, they will come back to Pakistan and contribute to Pakistan's economy directly.

KSA won't do anything, our relationship is too close.
Making radical decisions like switching oil supply from KSA to Iran is suicidal. Pakistan should gradually improve economic cooperation with Iran and slowly distance itself from KSA if the relationship is no longer as beneficial as it should be.

We don't need to distance from anyone. Our friendly relationships with KSA and Iran will improve peace and stability in region.

Pakistanis currently living in Pakistan are already struggling with unemployment so how will Pakistan provide employment to the one million Pakistanis living in KSA when it is already struggling to provide employment to the people living here.
