Short version;

Bizarre that the FM of a country that lobbied for recognition of Islamophobia should try and link Islam with terrorism.

Then later :

"Pakistan stated position is that extremism or terrorism shouldn't be associated with any religion." - Pakistan Foreign Office

. . . . .
Why CNN doesn’t raise the point that a 30 year old is the FM of a country of 200 million people!

They can't comment on the age, sex, ethnicity or religion of a guest unless it is relevant. Nor should they.

. .
It's not even that good of an accent. I can do it better than him and have more work experience than him. Why can't I be FM? :cheesy:

Well he did spend a few years in England so I am sure he is not faking it. I am not faulting him for his accent; it is what it is. I am simply saying that many Pakistanis and others will see him as educated regardless of the words coming out of his mouth.

Oh yes they have - watch Greta’s interview 🙂

Greta Van Susteren? Must be Fox News. Well they always try to be politically incorrect ... within limits.

Pakistanis prefer an American accent over a British accent. You only need tune into CityFM89 or watch some of the commercials or listen to the coaches accents of actors…

Personally - I don’t have an issue with his person - but when he’s representing Pakistan - he should be mindful of what he’s saying.

It was CNN - and Greta is going to take over the world one day - mark my words 😂

Yes, it is interesting that in North America and Europe, the British accent is perceived as more cultured. Queen's English and all that. But in the rest of the world, it is the American accent that people mimic most.

I only watch American news media during election year when the circus comes to town.

P.S. Australian federal elections today and only two people at work even mentioned it. Nobody cares even though voting is mandatory in Australia. I guess it is a good thing to live in a country where things are going mostly fine and the government doesn't really matter either way.

It’s the changing times - ask anyone from the 80’s or before who grew up with BBC World Service and British television being broadcast into our tvs in Pakistan and having family and teachers who served during the raj - “RP” or the queens English as some people call it was seen as a mark of education and being well read.

Sadly the 90’s and more so the naughties changed all that. Nowadays in Asia - the American accent is far more prevalent and considered as a mark of being well read and well travelled.

Well that is open secret. Every damn guy knows it. If anywhere an incident happens, if media says it is terrorist Act. Then they are indirectly associating with Islam.

Show me one FM from Pakistan or any Muslim country that makes that link? Because there is no link!

Linking Islam to terrorism is the reason you have Islamophobia in the first place.

He’s not representing himself on twitter anymore he’s representing Pakistan!
