What's new

Pakistan finally becoming a nation state?

Religion stays and Islam has stayed and will stay and this nation survival is on religion otherwise .....

Religion is but a fleeting vantage point of our purpose on this planet. A tradition of folklore and historical events which we convey to our children to help them understand why they are born. Literature which we perpetuate for lack of a better understanding of the mysteries of this universe and out of fear of retribution and a prophesied Hellfire for failing to have done so.

No one person can prove their religion as no other person can disprove his. Let me help you remember that before we were Muslims, we were Hindu and my Islamic faith teaches me that only Allah knows what will happen to our generations tomorrow. Neither you nor I can say with conviction that the progeny which we leave behind, under the green flag, will be Muslims. We simply don't know. Also to exactly which version of Islam are you alluding to? We are multiple sects today and the way things are going we will be many more tomorrow, with each sect swearing by the Book that they are the right ones and that the other's are wrong. Our takfiri ways will be our downfall.

The best course of action to adopt in the present circumstances is to hold fast to your faith and to allow others the enjoyment of their's. This nation's survival is not contingent or pivotal upon Islam. Although our birth was part and parcel of the unity which Islam gave us, today Islam stands to divide us more than ever. If we are to make our place among the comity of nations and define our future as a working and progressive state we must learn to function for the Pakistani people, independent of the religion of Islam. Our policies must be geared towards the betterment of the people while at the same time be shaded with the morals and values which Islam inculcated us with, not the other way around.

Take it from Turkey. Do we think we're any more Muslim than them? Heck they even had a caliphate! Today Turkey, albeit being a secular country, is an Islamic model for progress. It is the only Muslim country as a matter of fact that looks well on its way to crystallizing its position as a hub of power for the Muslim world.

I pray that you shed your myopic view of this diverse planet which we live on and learn to embrace other faiths and traditions with tolerance and appreciation. It is a colourful world and that is exactly wherein its beauty lies.

i still remember when a Pakistani hacker hacked into AIPAC's secure database and had a little fun with it

Pakistan always has been and always will be a nation-state - but as per Quaid e Azam's aspirations for this country - the people must show a more united front. During war time, nationalism went through the roof. On day to day basis its our politicians who let us down.

as for response to Ghaza - I wish Pakistan did more to support Palestinian nationalist/mujahideen forces but as the article states - we are far too inward looking. Given the insurgency/proxy entities we are working to quell, this isnt entirely unjustified. The Palestine thing has always found a place in our hearts given our friendly relations with the brothers/sisters there.

So we must go Seeculoror to be successful?

Good take this message to Egypt that blocks the Palestinians and help enforce the blockade and House of saud that supports the Egyptian Government.

the people of Egypt have a different criteria than that of their govts.

as for House of Saud - they are doing what they do b/c of their slavery to the west. Saudi citizens also are pro Palestine by and large.

Show me one time Arabs came out on streets and destroyed their own country for Palestinians or any other so called Muslim cause.

there was a time when you had pan Arabism and pan Islamism seperately; there was a time when you had people like King Faisal of KSA - who proved to be a pain in the *** for the west when his blockade played havoc on the international energy market

the embargo was at their national expense, but they proved a point and they did a damned good job of it ....gone are those days though alas

Show me one time when ARABS came to protest for pakistan. Cant find any may that should be a message too you!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is true but thats because culturally and geographically we are distant and unique....however, i've seen many such people who are very much aware of Kashmir cause and they've been supportive of Pakistan and its principled stance.

on official level - apart from pro Kashmir resolutions @ OIC, little else has been done. But Kashmir is a bilateral matter and we will tend to it ourselves as we have been doing. The people of Kashmir (Muslims) are by and large on our side

Fact of the matter and the ensuing reality is that Arabs will always give priority, love and respect to each other....no matter how much Pakistanis spend time blowing them. There is absolutely no other way of putting it...it sounds harsh but it's the truth.

Survival and salvation of Pakistan is in its own people and its neighbours. Pakistan and its people should start being professionals and stop being emotional kid who keeps getting abused.

And how do Pakistanis blow them? By protesting?

we've been at odds with a neighbour 7 times our size and we dont require boot-licking with them (especially when they backstab us) in order to survive

we've survived consistently and against all odds

as for the Arabs - quite frankly dude, the Arab world is in a mess....when petty tribalism and sectarianism is done away with - which God willlingly eventually it will - then they'll be one step closer towards attaining peace and being united

For Pakistan to thrive - 3 basic things

Unity, Faith, Discipline....

Apologies I didn't make myself a bit clearer. My statement was in regards to the overall prevailing attitude and mentality vis-a-vis the Mid-East.

As far as the Palestinian issue is concerned....sure Pakistan has always supported the Palestinian people.

Mate that thing is in their DNA/Genes. You wanna bet me your life-savings that this won't change in our life times or ever? We have other neighbours too you know...Iran, China, and albeit bad-blood...Afghanistan.

Could you elaborate?
I've seen great admiration in my fellow Pakistanis for life in the West, too. Many speak of plans to study/ find employment there.
