Pakistan did not seek time from India, says Qureshi
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan did not ask for more time to crackdown on the terrorists involved in last November’s Mumbai attacks, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Thursday. According to a private TV channel, Qureshi said all outstanding issues would be brought on the table in the next Indo-Pakistan talks that would be held at foreign secretaries-level. His comments came after Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Wednesday that Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari had sought more time to act against anti-India militants because Islamabad’s fight with the Taliban had entered a crucial phase. Also, Qureshi said it was a well-established opinion in the European Union (EU) that terrorism was a serious threat to global security and no country alone could fight it successfully. Talking to BBC TV, he said “We need capacity building to counter terrorism and we need capacity building in our civilian institutions”. app
