This software firewall adds another layer of security to the web server and will prevent cross-site-scripting, SQL injections, Denial of service, site defacement and other vulnerabilities.

Great news!
Pakistani
IT sector developed it, is the part I like!

I don't get it, will the firewall be deployed on every singled computer to prevent prevent Website hacking?

Wont there be issues of weather people would allow you to install your firewall on their private computers?

Or is this for defence computers? i thought defence computers would be on a closed network anyway?

Can someone translate that Arabic for me?

Its a software based firewall that will sit on Web servers hosting government sites.
it will act as another layer of security to prevent hackers from executing malicious scripts/etc to deface or hack sites.

Its a Big Claim , you cannot stop hacking but the only thing you can do is to minimize the damage it causes and protect as much information as you can.

The Japanese collaboration company is Trend Micro.
This is a Pakistan specific spin-off for one of TrendMicro famous web server firewall. What Pakistani engineers did is localized the product to Pakistani requirements and government standards in context to emerging attacks by Indians. It works as an add on for IIS and Apache filtering all kind of web requests and malicious query strings, XML/SOAP frameworks and .net app pools.

While the technical contribution may have been very less on the Pakistani side, the immense R/D and pattern analysis performed by NUST deserves some applaud.

I am sure they must have also added some geo-ip features to classify traffic by origin and treat Indian traffic with more rigor or perhaps tunnel it through a "soap box" mode.
