Pakistan, Cuba sign agreement to withdraw visa requirement for official passports

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Cuba on Wednesday have signed an agreement to withdraw visa requirement for diplomatic and official passport holders.

Interior Secretary Azam Suleman and Cuban Ambassador in Pakistan Gabriel Capote signed the document in Islamabad. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Cuban Vice President Roberto Morales Ojeda were also present in the meeting.

Under the agreement, the people who have diplomatic, official and special passports will not require visa to enter each other’s country.

Talking to Cuban Vice President Roberto Morales Odeja, the foreign minister has underlined the need for enhancing economic cooperation between Pakistan and Cuba to strengthen bilateral ties.

He said there is enormous potential for Pakistan and Cuba to enhance cooperation in health and agricultural sectors.

Appreciating the Cuban advancement in the field of bio-technology, the minister proposed collaboration in research and development for production of life saving vaccines.

He also briefed the Cuban delegation on India s unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

While highlighting the ongoing sufferings of the innocent people, FM Qureshi encouraged Cuba to raise its voice against the human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

Cuba really needs more road building, construction, and communications network instead. Its a good thing Pakistan can do these things pretty well.

Pakistan should make an agreement to help Cubans with that in exchange for promoting low cost medical tourism in Cuba; i'd prefer that than people going to India, or paying extortionate amounts in the west

Pakistan must help cubans as we are indebted to them for their services after the kashmir quake in 2004. They were amongst the 1st to come and amongst the last to go. I can vouch that some of the cases treated by them were textbook cases. Afterwards they also started scholarships for pak students to study medicine there.

They need wheat, cement, construction stuff like yesterday and we can easily afford to send one ship loaded with both every yr or whenever we have excess capacity. You dont build friends with smiles, handshakes and signatures.. It takes 2 to tango
