What's new

Pakistan conducts succesful test-fire of Hatf-VIII Ra'ad ALCM

Maybe they did not have the success they hoped for.. or they never got a video..
and used last years one
no brother, the new video is out:

The fact that you can see it fly by so slowly.. is indicative that it can be shot down pretty easy too.
Raa'd has a long way to go if this is the best it is capable of.
Babur has better terrain following and matching capabilities.
But those two teams probably have a professional jealousy thing going on
The slow speed is because it is being filmed from a fighter jet and not a stationary spot and that's why the relative motion/speed is low. same as you can see in below video of AGM-129A Advanced Cruise Missile (ACM)

so i think the matter is settled now.
:)
regards!

As far as I know, Raad is the air launched version and there is no other Babur air version in development stage. Sub launched would be the same as Babur with minor modifications to adapt it for sub-surface tube or VLS launch. other short range alternatives for air launched stand-off weapons include H2 & H4. May be there are other Chinese origin alternatives which am not very well aware off.

Raad is reported to be a different missile altogether and not an air launched version of Babur.
what may be the case is that after the success of Raad, they have canceled the Babur Air Launched project. or, we might see it is times to come as it will have more range!

regards!

No, Ra'ad is the modified air-launched version of Babur. Its airframe and other critical components related to the aircraft are designed by AWC, while all other internal systems are the ones used in Babur, which was designed by NDC.
Babur is too long to be an ALCM for any aircraft in PAF's inventory, so there wont be an air-launched version of it of that length.

For range of both missiles, they have to work on the engine (as it is locally designed). Because BGM-109 Tomahawk has way more range with almost the same dimensions.

After a relatively silent last year, NESCOM and NDC guyz are testing all the new babies this year. By the way, this strategy of multiple tests in one go, adopted by SPD has a financial aspects related to it.
Because it is common practice in Nescom, NDC and SUPARCO that when ever a new missile is tested, normally they get one basic salary as bonus.
Now by doing all tests in one go, SPD will give one bonus. hahahah.
The financial babus in SPD are getting clever

Pakistan should now focus more on increasing range and speed of its missiles
