A lot of ranting on this thread. Quality medicines made in Pakistan do exist. I can tell that I have relatives in the USA that prefer to use Pakistani made medicated cremes for eczema. They say it works better than what the American doctors prescribe, much cheaper as well.
Generic pharmaceuticals are all about cost. Pakistan just devalued its currency, and is now one of the lower cost producers for a lot of things. If you follow the right chemistry, the drug is the same in USA, Israel, India or Pakistan. I agree pharmaceuticals are highly regulated which I see as a bigger hurdle.
Well sir may be i use to be doctor in a different Pakistan 4 years ago ...Well if you really know you wouldn't be embarrassed
My aunt is a prof in a chem dept in Islamabad and they do extract distill and make compounds on demand but on a very small stage and the number of graduates (yes foreign countries use graduates to start in companies) pak uni produces should be trained at international levels to be able to do so....I am aware our graduates don't reach that level but we also have a high number of postgraduate MPhil and PhD who are jobless.....
All they need is a platform ....
Well that will come eventually but first standards.....Pakistan has zero standards the min hey upscale....I really don't understand why they don't understand the value of high standards...cutting costs sure...put robotics so you don't need to pay wage but don't compromise on standards ...This needs awhole set of brainwashing or something.....
Question: are you saying this is the norm in the Pakistani pharma industry?
Searle was working on FDA approval. This will be key. If we manufacture drugs to MHRA (UK), EMA (EU) and FDA (US) standards, we can actually start exporting good quality medication.
100% agree. Development and manufacture of drugs, is an essential industry.
“No one can force us to carry-on if our ventures are made commercially unviable. The treatment meted out to us is demeaning. Yes, it is highly frustrating and I am waiting for an opportunity to exit the sector myself.
“The market is abuzz with many others working on an exit strategy. The pressure on industrialists is becoming unbearable with margins narrowing in this country. Trading is comparatively less demanding and a lot more rewarding,” he reacted.
Dr sahab I didn't know doctors in Pakistan had their personal methods lab cooking their own meds?Well sir may be i use to be doctor in a different Pakistan 4 years ago ...
Sir..Pakistan doesnt has a petrochemical base to manufacture any drugs..even India cant manufacture advance drugs that require culture like insulinDr sahab I didn't know doctors in Pakistan had their personal methods lab cooking their own meds?
We and India can manufacture drugs that use plant extracts and synthesis is done at small scale in uni...I can assure you it is being done as my own aunt being a prof in organic chem has done so...Sir..Pakistan doesnt has a petrochemical base to manufacture any drugs..even India cant manufacture advance drugs that require culture like insulin
Basically we were behind but have fallen way back in last 30 years of democracy
This I agree...we are behind but not in stone ageBasically we were behind but have fallen way back in last 30 years of democracy
My point is large scale manufacturing ..obviously 1940s-1980s era medicines is not rocket science. We and India can manufacture drugs that use plant extracts and synthesis is done at small scale in uni...I can assure you it is being done as my own aunt being a prof in organic chem has done so...
Extracting distilling and synthesising on small scale is not rocket science
This I agree...we are behind but not in stone age
I never talked abt large scale ....that is outside my knowledge and to my understanding not available in PakistanDoctors come from the same society and many of them are corrupt to the core..they will neither work themselves nor will let anyone else

Govt needs to step in with ToT and manufacturing as it use to back in 1950s and 1960s..and leave simple things to private sector

Who talked about supplying the Ehle country? We are still establishing capabilities....talk about extrapolating informationComedy gold right there. So you extrapolated few gram synthesis capability to supplying the whole country.
Awsome.
