LAHORE: Pakistan’s talented youth took the country to the Guinness World Records (GWR) once again by creating six records in different entertainment events in Lahore on Tuesday.
Last year, in December, Pakistani youth set 11 new marks for GWR.
GWR adjudicator Carlos Martinez arrived to Lahore on Monday night to adjudicate nine attempts on day one of the attempts, but due to the shortage of time the youth could attempt only six GWR to get their name registered from the platform of the Punjab Youth Festival.
While talking to the media, Martinez expressed his delight to be in Lahore to adjudicate Guinness World Records.
“It’s in our (GWR) DNA to set records in the world and I congratulate the Punjab Youth Festival organisers for setting a field for new GWRs. I wish them best of luck,” he said.

In hockey, the 11-member team set a world mark of 43 passes in one minute. The team set the record in their third attempt.

In the second GWR attempt, the farthest dribbling of a hockey ball was completed by the same team.
They all carried the ball to a distance of 979.2 metres by dribbling, whereas the previous record was set at 600 metres.

Mohammad Rashid of Karachi set another record by opening 40 bottles caps with his head in one minute. He broke the previous record of 24 set by Germany’s Ahmed Tafzi.

Mohammad Salim Amin clinched the largest sequins mosaic record by creating a picture of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, measuring 6.2 square metres and using 325,000 sequins.

In the most number of continuous badminton passes in one minute, Mohammad Wajid and Atique completed 123 continuous passes while the target set by GWR was of 30 passes.

Mohammad Rashid created his second and the day’s sixth world record by kicking 50 coconuts down from the heads of people standing in a row.

Records for fastest time to dress a male mannequin, most martial arts kicks in one hour and largest paint swatch will be decided on March 13, along with several more attempts.

This is laughable ... are we so publicity driven that we feel pride in 'the highest passes in a badminton match' ... for heaven sake we should grow up ...

Even if the whole of GBWR was dominated by Pakistani record makers, would any of the records like eating maximum number of green chillies in one eminute or running th elongest distance or having the longest hairs solve anyof our social or economical issues?
