Canada and the US both were British colonies. Some of the colonies revolted and become the US while the others remained firmly under the British control.
Afghanistan was not a colony of British...nor Pakistan is national state like Canada(primary based on Anglo culture.) So again, Pakistan and Afghanistan does share history but the present map is above that history, hence, Canada and the US are different.
