Rawalpindi - November 5, 2014:
A special consignment of relief medical supplies and emergency goods donated by Pakistan for Koslandawatta – Meeriyabedda landslide victims, was handed over to the Sri Lanka Army on Tuesday (04) afternoon at Katunayaka Bandaranayake International Airport. Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, COAS had spoken to Srilankan Army Chief, Lt Gen Daya Ratnayake on phone and had made this offer.
It may be recalled that last week 100 people died in devastating mudslide in Budhala, Srilanka.
A team of 18 officers from the Pakistan Army, led by the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Major General (R) Qasim Qureshi, handed over relief stocks containing, 10 generators, shelters, 150 tents, 0.7 Tones of medicine, to the Sri Lanka Army Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General E.M.M Ambanpola who was present at the air port on behalf of the Commander of the Army.
The Pakistan team with technicians and other tradesmen would assist the Sri Lanka Army by providing technical Knowhow for their installation, etc.
Another consignment of relief aids will be despatched from Pakistan today.
