111 Independent Infantry Brigade has got nothing with coups, any other Brigade with any number, be it 110,112, 113 etc would have done the same when ordered and if deployed in vicinity of Islamabad. If 111 IIBG was so important politically as its publicized then its Brigade commanders would always make COAS of Pakistan Army. You can check yourself how many COAS of Pakistan Army have commanded 111 IIBG. The location of 111 Infantry Brigade is in westridge, Rawalpindi. For guarding President or PM or conducting a coup, the formation should be placed in Islamabad, not Rawalpindi. The security provided to President or PM is a mix of Military and Civil forces, and a whole Brigade is not required. ICT Police as well as Police in Rawalpindi out number 111 IIB's strength by a huge margin, so if a coup took place, 111 IIBG was the closest. You could say, at the wrong place, at the wrong time. Secondly, the commander of 111 IIBG can never act on his own. He is answerable to Corps Commander, X-Corps, who is answerable to Commander, Northern Command, who is answerable to VCOAS and COAS. So stop with the non-sense of 111 IIBG and coups already. Its a chain of command that follows and makes decisions and puts 111 IIBG into action.

Units under command of 111 IIBG.

3 x Infantry battalions
1 x artillery regiment
1 x signals company
1 x MP detachment
1 x Field Intelligence Company.

Responsibilities of 111 IIBG

1.It's the strategic Reserve for X-Corps, which means it can be utilized anywhere; LOC or elsewhere. However, its also considered the last defense for Government setup in Islamabad, if an indian Army break through reaches the out- skirts of Islamabad.

2.Provide troops for security of GHQ and JSHQ.
111 IIBG assigns one infantry battalion to GHQ. When the attack took place on GHQ many years back, it was some Punjab Regiment Battalion assigned for GHQ security that day. The roster could be monthly or yearly, depends upon commander. The other formation providing security to GHQ is DSG, which has retired personnel also in it.

3. Provides security to Islamabad and Rawalpindi in case of an airborne/air assault attack from Indian Military.

4. Provides security to KRL in case of emergency.

5. Provides resources of men and material to Government in case of national emergency or crisis in Islamabad Capital Region.

If its a permanent attachment then i am not aware of it. SSG is rotated and attached at platoon or company strength, with different formations according to build up of situation.
With X-Corps, SSG has been attached to FCNA a lot, in Siachen and on LOC.

Before talking restructuring Army which is known by all our enemies as the only institutions which by the grace of Allah kept our country protected against their devils plans, we should talk about restructuring all others civilian and corrupt/corrupted institutions of the same country.

Because giving leadership of army to a prime minister like the friends of our enemies, I talking about nawaz, zardari, buttho and theirs son of b!tches oulaadans, is giving your home’s protection to the people from whom this army is protecting from.

It’s another plan to weaken it.

Someone was talking of US or Israel’s army as an example. Should I kindly remind that unfortunately our awaam is not at same level of social development.

Our politicians are jokers, they don’t have any clue of the world’s dynamics, except perhaps Imran Khan.

So what to report to them ? What will they decide to do about those reporting ?

If we have well educated politicians then why not ? But we are not at this level yet.

So in my humble opinion of a non expert, it is only a move to weaken our only strong institution.

I agree they made some, big, mistakes but had our military been weaker then Pakistan would have already ceased to exist.

Of course I could be wrong, but my heart tell me I’m not.

in my view restructuring in all 3 PARTS of Armed forces is necessary to fight the 21st century wars .may be we can base the restructuring on few basic things e.g
1 non combat expenses
2 training
3 command and control
4 equipment
may be other members would like to add something to the list

Read the firsts posts in this thread. They are talking about restructuring in a specific way which will reduce or eliminate the risk of military coups, and the reporting to Prime Minister.

And then read my post you are referring to.

Review of administrative costs yes for sure. Why not if it could improve efficiency and reduce cost. It it not should be reducing cost just reducing cost. So what you propose ?

Reviews of combat trainings ? I think every professional army do it. What do you propose?

Command and control ? As some members said so rightly Army is one man. I will add Army is one man’s body.
And one man has, thank God, one brain. This brain should decide what to do, but to take right decisions he have to treat simultaneously multidimensional informations.

So what do you propose ?

Imagine one instant you are fighting against a man what to punch you left right, direct punch in the head, in the stomach and even in the middle of legs. You will have to do more than one moves to avoid his attacks and also to hit him back. You will agree I hope you need coordinations in each of your moves.
So in Command and control who will decide to hit where and when ? Who will decide to retreat if need arise ? Who will take the decision to launch the ultimate weapon if situation requires it ?

Keep in mind that people (you know who) want to weaken our Armed Forces.

I’m not expert at all and I don’t know how our Armed Forces are organised. So I won’t go further in this discussion but I repeat again my heart tell me not go to restructuring it. It really means do not it.
I had several personal experiences where my heart told me something and my brain something other. I have listened to my brain instead of my heart. The outcomes were very bad.

And this time I had same feelings. So I will again listen to my heart.

By the way new battlefields will be more and more crowded by super soldiers ( high tech), systems will use more and more Artificial Intelligence, si need of strong and resilient information systems ( satellites, data centres...)Etc.

That’s why I told that we should restructure our country’ Civil Institutions which could bring us in the reality of the 21st century.

Pakistan Armed forces need restructuring , four four star generals should be given the command of North South and East and West Boarders , they should report to General Chief of Army Staff . The position of COAS is no more required . It will eliminate the danger of martial Law in country . Pakistan suffered lot of economical losses in 35 years of martial law rule. The armed forces should be reduced to 150000 to 250000 regular army . All adult citizen of Pakistan male and female should be trained and they should serve the defence forces for 40 days per year. The 75% armed budget can be utilized in high tech weapons and space satellites, research and development , development of 5th generation fighter planes ,missile defence systems and drones technology.

I like the idea of training dor every citizen but 250000 is joke we need atleast 700+ thousands army men ready all the time in west they have 1.5 million troops ready to knock us down with 1.35 billion people and look at the region seems like war is comming to all we need is

This restructure we need instead of we play with only functional pillar who ever bring this to table i think either they dont know whats going on or injecting indian thoughts in Pakistan.
We need to clean our mess from political parties and those babus whos stupidly and cowardly running our buerocuracy.
