Pakistan's Balochistan province government has announced general amnesty for Baloch nationalists militants fighting for more autonomy and control over gas and mineral resources in the region.

The provincial government yesterday unveiled an amnesty plan for local Balochs willing to renounce violence and start a peaceful life.

The plan, aimed at ending a low-level insurgency going on since 2005, was approved in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch.

The government said in an overnight statement that the meeting discussed the law and order in the province.

"It was decided that a peaceful, conciliatory Balochistan policy will be implemented so that the youngsters who want to lay down arms and join the mainstream can be granted amnesty and be encouraged to rehabilitate themselves," it said.

The militants will be paid Rs 500,000 under the scheme for laying down arms, while mid-level commanders will get Rs 1 million and top commanders will be paid Rs 1.5 million.

Addressing a cultural show, Commander Southern Command Lt Gen Nasir Janjua later urged the youths to accept the government offer.

"Those living in the mountains should leave that life and come back to live with their families," he said.

Janjua also warned them that there was no place for "militants, terrorists and separatists in Balochistan".

Great this will help them to return to back to right path and work for country to bring peace and prosperity.

.
They need education not money we should focus on uprooting the core problems and the primitive systems
Remove the initiatives and our issues will sort themselves out

.
So all those who were murdered by these thugs should just shut up in the name of peace, when will those victims get justice? I have lost personal friends to these terrorists.

If the courts will hear they go forward (though the granted amnesty would supersede you)

Its not easy to forgive and move forward but sometimes such steps are necessary to tell the insurgents that you can stop and we will stop too...

Guys its easy to say lets forget and move on, I have lost my childhood friends in Quetta. Tell that to the mother who lost her husband and son in one day. There is no peace, if there is no justice.

That is understandable but what about the future peace? Lets not have anymore mothers having to face that...

Unfortunately, 1 side HAS TO GIVE IN...why not be the one with the larger heart....After all ALLAH is forgiving to those who show compassion!

They should have not been shown mercy.
It is highly likely that they will spend the given money on drugs or cars or other luxurious stuff, once the money ends they will look towards the government and when they don't receive anything they will re-enter the insurgency. The problem is that these people do want to work nor merge in the society. They are like beggars, addicted to a particular comfort (In this case the comfort of killing innocents and not being held responsible). We can try all we want but we cannot end their mindset.
They should have got two bullets to the head .

I can tell you this now, such moves will not yield longterm results. I am sorry but I have no forgiveness for these terrorists.
