2011-01-13 15:17:35
WAM By Muhammad Aamir Abu Dhabi, Jan 13th, 2011 (WAM) -Pakistan and UAE enjoy close fraternal relations which are manifested in cooperation between the two countries at all level and in diverse fields.

"The leadership of the two countries have intimate relationship and we deeply cherish the love and affection of the UAE people and their leadership towards Pakistan", Jamil Ahmed Khan, Pakistan Ambassador to UAE, told Emirates News Agency (WAM) in an interview here at Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

"If we look into the history of our relations we will find many things common, people from this region have been travelling to that part of the world, we share common values , interest and culture that bring two nations closer to each other", he added.

He describe Pak-UAE relations replicating famous quote of Aristotle who once said that "Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies", similarly "Pakistan and UAE are two countries with one soul".
UAE has always been there to support Pakistan whenever the need arose and we are extremely appreciative and grateful to the government and people of the UAE for this gesture, the Pakistani envoy remarked.

He paid rich tribute to the founding president of UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, towards expansion of Pak-UAE relations and said, " Sheikh Zayed made significant contributions in several socio-economic projects in Pakistan, and has been the cementing force binding the two countries".

Sheikh Zayed further boosted bilateral relations between Pakistan and UAE and during his era the relations went to new height and we (Pakistani) feel so galvanize with the people of this region, he added.
On people-to-people contact, the envoy said: " Pakistan and UAE enjoy excellent people-to-people ties and they will grow higher than the Himalayas", (The great Himalayas, the highest mountain range in the world).

"Our brothers in UAE and Gulf area are fully aware that Pakistanis due to their emotional attachment with them can be counted in case of any challenging time ever confronted by UAE".

"My message to UAE is that in view of these strong relations we need to proportionate with the awareness of people at the gross root level, how best these emotional relations can be transformed into our relations at people to people level, harnessing the efforts of scientists, doctors, researchers into building the strength of this region", he added.

Responding to a query on UAE assistance during calamities, the ambassador said that UAE's valuable contribution and assistance during the two enormous natural calamities suffered by Pakistan in the past few years is a living manifestation of the mutual affinity, "we will never forget the UAE brethren's contribution during these difficult times".

" UAE demonstrated enormous solidarity and as a symbol of their cooperation with Pakistan they have sent millions of dollars but most important than the financial assistance, was the emotional feelings of Emirati people and their government", the ambassador noted.

"It was clearly understood by world that the assistance went from all walks of life from UAE like , Sheikh Zayed Foundation, Khalifa Foundation, the Red Crescent Authority and Dubai Care etc., but most importantly people at large they were so helpful that they were working with medical teams ( in Pakistan), they were there with their helicopters, and they were there in most affected area even during the Eid ul-Adha".

To a question he observed that during the present PPP government more bilateral initiatives have been taken besides President Asif Ali Zardari considers the UAE as his second home and has visited UAE a number of times including a state visit in November 2008.
He said that Pakistan is offering a wide range of sectors for investment or joint ventures with foreign investors inviting Emirati businessmen to invest in areas such as Oil and Gas, energy and power, agro and agro-based products, infrastructure especially industrial, mining and minerals, health and tourism industry, real estate.

About Pakistani workforce contributions in economic uplift of UAE Jamil Khan said, "We are proud of our contributions with more than one million people who are contributing towards the economic and infrastructural development of UAE. Although we have many Pakistani bankers, engineers, doctors and on the intellectual count the writers and journalists. However this category of human capital needs to be enhanced for the mutual benefit of two countries".

trade is trade, relations are another issue....your trade with China exceeds that of our bilateral trade with China. Doesnt change much.

as for UAE, yes our relations have always been quite warm and brotherly. Actually, it was Pakistani peoples who helped build Dubai and Abu Dhabi with their bare hands, sweat and hard work. We were among the first foreigners to conduct business there when the lands were barren and all it consisted of was sand, wooden boats and some fishermen.

Approximately 1.75 million Indian nationals reside in the UAE, making them the single largest expatriate community in the country and majority too

Demographics of the United Arab Emirates - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

lol according to your source total UAE population is 8.2 million and total Indian population according to you is 1.75 million which is equal to 21 % Indians
